Akshay Oberoi trains in Parkour

Akshay Oberoi trains in Parkour

Akshay, has been shooting for his Indo- Brit film 'Bombairiya'. Since majority parts of the film include chase sequence, there are scenes where Akshay's running on the streets chasing someone.

Given, the locality and the narrow lanes of the city where they have been shooting these sequences, Akshay has been asked to train in free running called Parkour. Since Parkour is known for jumping and running in congested places with very little open road / ground to run, it was the perfect style to depict the chase sequence and the agility that his character requires.

He has been training in this style of running since few weeks and will soon be shooting his on-road chase sequence.

Akshay Oberoi says,"Yes, I have been training in Parkour. I think running is the best form of workout and Parkour takes it to another level and helps make your body and mind agile"

Only weak actors scared of being typecast: Gulshan Grover

Only weak actors scared of being typecast: Gulshan Grover

Typecast as a villain, actor Gulshan Grover earned the name "Bad Man" for numerous villainous roles in the 1980s and 1990s but was never worried about being slotted as he was courageous, unlike other "weak actors".

"People are frightened to be typecast. I, in fact created the typecast. It is the weaker actors who are scared of being typecast. If you're a good actor, strong and hardworking while also being gutsy and courageous, then nothing can stop you when the time is right. And I've proven it," Gulshan told media at the music launch of his upcoming film "Chehre" which also stars Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala, Divya Dutta, Aarya Babbar among others. The film is directed by Rohit Kaushik.

"Bad Man" tag was a conscious effort for Gulshan. "I came to act in movies after having done my formal training along with Anil Kapoor, Mazhar Khan and others. I deciphered and analyzed the film business, and how can you be a big brand. And I understood that you must have a recall value, and a recognition value.

"So I created this 'Bad Man', 'villain' persona myself and I worked very hard for it. And I knew when the time is right, I will be able to break it with no difficulty at all because I'm hardworking, talented and I'm gutsy and courageous."

Proving his case, Gulshan has successfully changed tracks playing positive roles in films such as "I Am Kalam" which were widely appreciated.

Here's why Imran Abbas had to cancel 'Jaanisar' promotional tour

Here's why Imran Abbas had to cancel 'Jaanisar' promotional tour

Visa issues forced Pakistani actor Imran Abbas to cancel a film promotional tour in Chandigarh

The team of Muzaffar Ali's 'Jaanisar', which has been travelling to various cities in India for promotions, had to cancel its Chandigarh visit recently. Reason? Pakistani actor Imran Abbas, who stars in the lead, possesses a travel visa that is valid for limited cities.

A source says, "We were in Lucknow when we got to know that Imran won't be able to travel to Chandigarh as it was not covered under his travel visa. We didn't want to go ahead without him, so cancelled the visit altogether. Since it was a last-minute decision, the organisers were in a bit of a soup. We couldn't do much apart from apologising profusely to them."

The actor will also have to miss out on the film's release - August 7 - as his visa expires two days prior to it. However, he intends to complete the promotions in some other cities here before returning to Pakistan.

Imran says, "Before starting the city tours, my visa was sorted for eight cities. However ,when I was in Lucknow, I was informed that my Chandigarh visa had to be cancelled. My emergency application too was not approved because of paperwork and hopefully, I will be able to visit these cities in future."

Atif Aslam regales his Delhi 'Aadeez'

Atif Aslam regales his Delhi 'Aadeez'

Pakistani singing sensation Atif Aslam was at his musical best at an evening here, when over 2,500 of his fans, whom he fondly calls 'Aadeez', were left asking for more even after he took to stage three hours later than scheduled.

Looking cool in a t-shirt and rolled up jeans, Atif made the audience almost forget the wait and amidst tight security, he regaled his fans with several of his songs and more, on Friday night.

While his concert was to begin at 5 p.m., a few serpentine lines were seen being formed at the entrance of the venue, Talkatora Stadium, much before that.

The delay led some to believe that the concert would be called off. And that's no surprise as the "Aadat" hitmaker's shows have been cancelled in the past in various Indian cities, including Delhi.

But as the clock struck 8.40 p.m., one could see his bandmates on the stage. They were soon joined by the singer himself who started the show with his latest Bollywood hit track "Tu chahiye " from Salman Khan starrer "Bajrangi Bhaijaan".

Then he moved on to "Doorie", the title track of his second album "Doorie"; followed by "Bheegi yaadein", the rock version of his hugely popular Bollywood debut track "Woh lamhe woh baatein".

As he belted out his hit songs one after the other, the furious fans calmed down and sang along with Atif.

He apologised for making them wait.

"Apologies for the delay. It was because of the traffic. Thank you for the love," Atif told the audience before singing "Tera hone laga hoon".

The 32-year-old then picked up his guitar and played it while singing "Jal pari" from his debut album "Jal Pari", which didn't officially release in India.

"I am here because of your love. You all listen to my songs, take out time for my music... That makes me feel very good. Thank you for that," the singer, who has been in the music industry for over a decade, told his Delhi fans, out of which a few showed up in t-shirts with Atif's images printed on them.

For the next few songs, he gave his band a break. With just his soulful voice and a piano, he sang the moving number "Pehli nazar mein" from "Race".

Like always, he ensured to churn out some of the Bollywood's classic songs like "Gulabi aankhen", "Jab koi baat bigad jaye" and "Kya hua tera wada".

If Bollywood songs kept the fans up on their feet, his album numbers like "Kuch is tarah", "Hum kis gali jaa rahe hai"and "Meri kahani" also got everyone hooked to his show, tickets for which were priced from Rs.1,500 to Rs.4,000.

Atif, known for interacting with his fans often, also signed autographs on a sketch made by the 'Aadeez' as well as handmade posters while performing. He also tried to shake as many hands as possible. The father of a year-old boy also pulled up a little girl on stage and kissed her on her forehead.

He concluded the show with "Aadat", a song that he always saves for the last.

Revealed: How Riteish's political background helped him?

Revealed: How Riteish's political background helped him?

Riteish Deshmukh, son of late former Maharashtra chief minister and union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, feels that being born in a political family has made him wiser.

"I hope that being born in a political family has made me wiser, because you are very careful about the words that you speak. Since childhood I have realized and known what one speaks and how things are put forward in front of media. And always being an architect has taught me 'Less is More'. So I try and choose wisely what I say.

"Belonging to a political background with some party, my viewpoint apart from being an individual are inclined towards where my father or my brother belong. So my opinions for it, against it or with it, I try to keep it to myself. As I know being from films my comments will be taken a bit ahead and reacted more than usual," Riteish said to a query on how his political background has affected him as a person, as a celebrity and also in choice of his films.

"About choices of films, it has nothing to do with political backdrop or else I would have never done 'Grand Masti'. I think the films I choose to do, may be it will sound politically incorrect, are the ones which I enjoy to do and I am glad that people enjoy watching them too," he said at a promotional event for his forthcoming film "Bangistan", whose release date has been pushed from July 31 to August 7 due to the strong pull of "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and "Baahubali"

His co-star Pulkit and director Karan Anshuman were also present.

The debut of critic-turned-director Karan Anshuman, "Bangistan" is a satire on terrorism.

Shilpa Shetty's royal affair at AICW 2015

Shilpa Shetty's royal affair at AICW 2015

A new chapter from India's regal past was unfolded when Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty walked the ramp of 2015 edition of Amazon India Couture Week (AICW) here on Saturday for designer-duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula with hues of gold and ivory painting a story of opulence and elegance.

The actress, who exuded elegance and grace as she slipped into a heavily embroidered gold lehenga-choli, was filled with pride at walking for the designers for the first time.

"There couldn't have been a better opportunity for me to introduce to the world how I look in their clothes. This is the first time I am walking the ramp as a show-stopper for them. I really appreciate the duo's workmanship and designs as they are very talented,` Shilpa told reporters after the show.

Through their collection "Maharadjah & Co.", the designers tried to narrate interactions of Indian royals with the western culture and its influences. And that was the reason behind models sashaying down the ramp on old English music and Indian instrumental pieces.

Rimple and Harpreet also had a photographer clicking photographs of the models, hinting of the era when professional photographers were called to India to take portraits of royal families.

Rimple, who found a "perfect muse" in the "Dhadkan" actress, noted that they tried to bring forward a part of the history with the show on the fourth day of the five-day fashion gala.

"Our inspiration has been from yesteryears. When you talk about maharajas, there is so much to explore. The theme of the show was how those maharajas used to get their portraits done,` Rimple said.

The `Life In A... Metro` actress, known for her svelte figure, was also floored by the concept.

"I just fell in love with the concept of the show, which was very new. The bygone era didn't had the option of selfies, but they commissioned people to come down and take their photographs,` said Shilpa, who is married to businessman Raj Kundra.

Tempered in hues of ivory and beige, burnished golds and velveteen ruby, the range had gold karigari, hand-crafted embroidery and crystals embedded on the silhouettes of crapes, robes, sheer billowy jackets, regal cloaks and lehengas.

While appreciating her outfit, Shilpa also noted that the ensemble `weighs more than her` but she has no complaints about it.

She said: `Glamour comes with some amount of weight. The outfit is beautiful, classy and subtle. The gold karigari is the USP of it."

After garnering compliments for her fitness at the fashion gala, the actress, who is a yoga enthusiast, said she is releasing a book to attain healthy lifestyle and `everyone should read it to stay fit. It is very easy`.

Never say never, urges Arjun

Never say never, urges Arjun

Arjun Kapoor has dabbled in various roles on the big screen, but why has he kept away from TV? Never say never, says the "Gunday" star.

A string of actors, including Shahid Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, have ventured onto the small screen as reality TV show judges or hosts. Is Arjun not planning it?

"I don't think they had planned to do it...I think the offer must have come at the time when they found it very exciting because they are doing fantastic brands (shows), whether it is Sonakshi or Shahid...the shows they are affiliated are fantastic brands and in my life I have always believed 'Never say never'.

"I never thought I can be an actor, and see where I am today. So, you should always be open to your opportunities and as the time arrives or the opportunity arrives, we'll consider it," he said.

Aditya's limitations exposed?

Aditya's limitations exposed?

Aditya Roy Kapur feels he can never be part of a live play because remembering multiple dialogues is tough.

His journey in showbiz started when he was a video jockey on the small screen. From there on, he featured in bit roles in films like "London Dreams" and "Guzaarish" before getting his big break with "Aashiqui 2".

Asked if he will ever do theatre, he said: "There are so many dialogues...I feel that I'll never be able to do a play. Remembering so many dialogues is not easy. It is very tough."

Just last month, he was present to watch the theatrical production "Mera Woh Matlab Nahi Tha", featuring Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta, and he was floored by the play and the performances.

"After watching the play, I decided that I don't want to do a play ever in my life," he said.

Blast From The Past: Salman gets a compliment from someone special?

Blast From The Past: Salman gets a compliment from someone special?

"Maine Pyar Kiya" fame Bhagyashree said that after watching Salman Khan's "Bajrangi Bhaijaan", she complimented him for his new and emotional avatar.

"I really liked the film. I even told Salman that he came across in a completely new avatar. And it's a different kind of emotional connect that he's got with the audience this time around," Bhagyashree told IANS designer Rohit Verma's store launch after being asked if she had seen the film.

Bhagyashree had arrived on the big stage with her debut in Sooraj Barjatya's "Maine Pyar Kiya" as a sweet and innocent girl in love with Salman. Though, Salman's debut film was "Biwi Ho To Aisi", it is "Maine Pyar Kiya" is often considered his debut film since he left a good impression on the minds of viewers. Their chemistry in the film is discussed even today.

But post the film, Bhagyashree went away from the spotlight, and post marriage and having kids, she only did a film once in a while, even down South as well as Marathi and Bhojpuri films.

But her interaction with Salman does show that they're still in touch and that he hasn't forgotten his first heroine.

Why Pulkit was scared of Riteish Deshmukh?

Why Pulkit was scared of Riteish Deshmukh?

Pulkit Samrat said he initially had reservations working with 'Bangistan' co-star Riteish Deshmukh. The two actors, whose on-screen chemistry in the film's promo is getting appreciated by audience, are sharing screen space for the first time in the Excel Entertainment's upcoming film.

"Riteish is very funny. He has an amazing sense of humour. But I was scared to work with him. He is much senior to me so I thought to myself, 'how he would be with me, how am I going to work with him'," Pulkit told reporters.

The 'Fukrey' star was pleasantly surprised when Riteish, 36, took efforts to break the ice between them and made him feel at ease.

"To my surprise, he said 'hello' to me first. He broke the ice, he made me the most comfortable. He used to give ideas that 'let's do something,' started improvising and made workshops so much fun that we opened up by the end of it and that's actually showing on the screen," Pulkit said.

Directed by debutant Karan Anshuman, 'Bangistan' is a satirical comedy, which follows the lives of two blundering terrorists, played by Pulkit, 31, and Riteish, on a mission to change the world. "It is a story of two youths who come from two parts of Bangistan. Riteish's character comes from North Bangistan. He is a Muslim. My character Praveen Chaturvedi comes from South Bangistan.

"We both believe in our respective faiths firmly and that is what is used as a weakness against us by the leaders of our respective fundamental groups," the actor said.

When asked if 'Bangistan' team ever worried about the probability of having controversy around the movie, considering the religious sentiments involved, Pulkit said they never doubted the film as their intentions were at the right place.

"It never occurred to us that we were doing something wrong. When a film is made, so many religions come together on the set. If we are doing something, someone would get offended on the set itself," he said.

The actor also feels treating a sensitive issue in a humorous way was an intelligent idea, which gives the film an edge over other movies dealing with religion and beliefs. "This film could have been made as a thriller as it has the scope of a lot of action in it. There are two suicide bombers. But the idea of turning it into a satire and treating it in a humorous way is great. Humour is the most difficult to write," he said.

'Bangistan', also starring Jacqueline Fernandez, is set to release on August 7.

Adorning an elegant champagne silk dress, Kalki set the ramp ablaze with her scintillating presence, much to the delight of the audience, who cheered the actress.

See How? Bhumi on an image breaking spree

See How? Bhumi on an image breaking spree

She won accolades for her portrayal of an overweight woman struggling in a loveless marriage in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' but for her next film, actress Bhumi Pednekar is getting into a slim avatar.

Bhumi made her Bollywood debut earlier this year with the Yash Raj film opposite actor Ayushmann Khurrana. The former casting director gained an extra 15 kilos for her role in the movie.

The actress said though it is difficult losing weight, she is loving the fact that people are complimenting her. "I am losing weight for my next film. I can't divulge its details right now. But it is very different from what I did in 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'.

"People are telling me that I am almost unrecognisable and I am happy because it is a conscious decision to lose kilos to look the part," said Bhumi, who looked beautiful in a white anarkali by designer Varun Bahl.

She was in the capital to attend Varun's show at the ongoing Amazon India Couture Week. Describing herself as a "fashion conscious" person, Bhumi said she keeps a tab on the current style trends. "I am very fashion conscious. I am always looking at the trends because I want to be in sync with them. I have my team, which helps me in choosing clothes."

When asked who among other Bollywood actresses impress her with their style sense, Bhumi said, "I find many of my contemporaries stylish. Kangana's dress sense is amazing. Deepika is so effortless in her style. Priyanka has an oomph factor. I think they all are great."

The young star, who has been hailed as the find of 2015, said she feels she has a lot to prove in her second film. "I just feel gratitude when people praise me for 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha'. Acting for me is more than just good looks and is scared. So, when people appreciate and acknowledge it, I feel amazing. I am not under pressure about people's expectations from me. I rather take it as a challenge that I will prove my versatility."

Bhumi aspires to work with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj and Imtiaz Ali. "I have a long wish list of directors. I want to work with Vishal Bhardwaj and Imtiaz Ali because they are the directors whose cinema I love watching."

Counting Days: Kriti is hell too restless these days?

Having shot just a song for the much-awaited film 'Dilwale', actress Kriti Sanon says she is counting her days to start working with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the next schedule of the movie.

The Bulgaria shoot of the Rohit Shetty-helmed film, which also has actor Varun Dhawan in the lead, has wrapped up recently. While Shah Rukh and Kajol shot maximum together at the foreign location, Kriti is sad she is yet to share screen space with the iconic on-screen couple.

"I had gone to Bulgaria only for a song. So, it was just me and Varun. Unfortunately, Shah Rukh sir had flown to London at that time and I could not meet him. We have still not shot together. But the next schedule is not too far so I am sure it will be a lot of fun. I am really excited," Kriti told reporters.

Calling her song with the 'Badlapur' actor in the movie, 'cool and funky', Kriti said the number is for today's generation. The 25-year-old actress, who is ecstatic to get a big break after her debut outing 'Heropanti', said the film is a family entertainer like Rohit Shetty's previous works.

"It is a typical Rohit Shetty film, a family entertainer, which you can enjoy with your family." Produced by Shah Rukh's Red Chillies Entertainments and Rohit Shetty Productions, 'Dilwale' also stars, Vinod Khanna, Boman Irani, Kabir Bedi, Sanjay Mishra and Varun Sharma among others.

The film is set to hit theatres on December 18.

Amy Jackson all set to take a flying leap in Bollywood, see how?

Amy Jackson will be taking a flying leap into Bollywood's A-league with Akshay Kumar and the action comedy, Singh Is Bling, in October. And what better way to do it than on horseback.

`Horse riding is not new to me. I have learnt it from the master herself, my mother who was an instructor in Liverpool,` says Amy who grew up riding ponies and was transported back in time when she was galloping around on camera in Romania recently.

Since she plays a feisty, independent girl in the film, the director, Prabhu Deva, had planned to introduce her with a big action sequence. `But when I was talking to her, she revealed how she had grown up around horses and was an expert rider. That sparked off a thought: Why don't I introduce her by letting her ride into the frame. It would be different and have the impact we wanted`, reveals Prabhu Deva, explaining the sudden twist in the tale.

Amy was only happy to oblige and says it's one of her best shoots. They shot on Snagov Grounds outside Bucharest with around 40 horses, some of them transported from neighboring Bulgaria. `It was the hottest day but the heroine was cool as cucumber and even better than the local Romanian riders,` says a source from the sets.

Have Sona and Arjun still not gotten over their split?

Have Sona and Arjun still not gotten over their split?

It's been six months since they went their separate ways, but looks like the awkwardness between Sonakshi Sinha and Arjun Kapoor continues.

The two got along like a house on fire during the shoot of Tevar and there was a strong buzz that they were a couple.

Later, the news of a breakup, not an amicable one.

Apparently, these days, the two leave no stone unturned to ensure that they don't cross each other's path. Pity.

Besides Ranbir, Who is Kat's only supporter in 'Kapoor Khandaan'

Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor Khan have a special connect. Apparently, Bebo is the only person that Kat gets along well from with from beau Ranbir Kapoor's khandaan.

She loves Kareena for her honest and easy-going nature and hopes to spend more time with her future sister-in-law.

With constant buzz about her not-so-great equation with Ranbir's mother Neetu Singh, Kat really needs someone in RK's family for support. Looks like it's Bebo to the rescue.

Why is Bips is being secretive about her relationship with Karan?

Bipasha Basu seems to be going full steam with 'good friend' Karan Singh Grover. Recently, the two took off for Maldives for some fun in the sun.

Bips posted a picture of herself and a suntanned Karansnapshots on social media.

Going by the photos, she is certainly enjoying his company. Although she continues to be evasive when defining their relationship. As of now, the two just want to be buddies.

Fair enough. However, how long can we ignore that ever since the two acted in a horror film earlier this year, they have been inseparable. Holidays, fashion shoots, late night dinners, they do everything together.

Unbelievable! SRK gets an unforgettable surprise on Friendship Day

Unbelievable! SRK gets an unforgettable surprise on Friendship Day

Probably 'King of Bollywood' SRK will not be able to forget this Friendship Day ever. Why?

Well let's tell you right at the onset, that it has nothing to do with Salman or Ajay.

Actually in the recent development of events which took place in Mumbai, Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) in one of its 'out-of blues' kind of decisions has decided to lift that 5 year ban on SRK, vide which it barred SRK from entering the Wankhede Stadium in 2012.

Shah Rukh who is also the owner of IPL team 'Kolkata Knight Riders', was banned from entering the Wankhede stadium in 2012, following his alleged misbehavior with the security guards after a match between KKR and Mumbai Indians. When this unsolicited incident took place, in its version of allegations MCA stated that while being under the influence of alcohol Khan tried to force his way on to the grounds after the match, and abused and manhandled guards after he was stopped.

Though SRK rubbished all such allegations, and in his version of story stated that his children were "physically manhandled in the name of security" by guards, which infuriated him.

But now after 3 years, it looks like MCA has decided to embrace that "let bygones be bygones" philosophy, and out of nowhere has decided to revoke its decision to welcome this Baadshah of Bollywood in its arena.

Don't believe in going under the knife: Tia Bajpai

Don't believe in going under the knife: Tia Bajpai

"Haunted" fame actress-singer Tia Bajpai has clarified that she hasn't got any sort of surgery done on her lips, adding she doesn't believe in cosmetic surgery.

At an event to promote a jewellery brand, Tia was asked by a journalist why her lips were looking different. She first expressed shock and said: "I've applied lipstick."

She then clarified: "On lips, no I don't believe in going under the knife. I've also worn sunglasses only because I don't want any of you to get an eye infection. And as you can see, there is nothing going on with my face, nope. If there would be a first thing I would remove, it would be this (points near her nose). Exposed: Why Salman is the softest target for his haters?

Exposed: Why Salman is the softest target for his haters?

Days after Bollywood superstar Salman Khan got into a controversy by opposing the death penalty for 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon, his father, veteran writer Salim Khan, dismissing his son's tweets as "childish and meaningless", said he was being targeted for his celebrity status which gives accusers more publicity.

Salim says his son was not the only person who had held such a position.

"These things have been said by many people. Salman was not the only one. Probably his way of putting it was little childish and meaningless. First person to condemn it was me. Lots of people like Naseeruddin Shah, Shatrughan Sinha, (Justice) Markandey Katju have said the same thing," Salim told news channel India Today.

"You get more publicity when you attach Salman because he is a big star," he added.

Salman, 49, who is out on bail after being sentenced to five years in jail in the 2002 hit-and-run case in May, tweeted on July 25 that Yakub, who was hanged in Nagpur jail on Thursday, should not be punished for his brother Tiger Memon's crime.

The reaction to the tweets led authorities to deploy around 50 policemen outside his residence in Galaxy Apartment in Bandra in fear of possible violence and even set up barricades.

However, Salman, the very next day (July 26) apologised for what all he said. The `Bajrangi Bhaijaan` posted on Twitter that his father wanted him to retract his tweets "as they have the potential to create misunderstanding". And he promptly deleted the earlier tweets.

Asked whether Salman is being targeted because of being an Indian Muslim, Salim said: "The people here who have come up with the agitation and blocked the road... personally I felt that these are the people, probably lots of them are against (Prime Minister Narendra) Modiji. He (Modi) is totally aware of all these things that he comes to know.`

Yakub Memon was involved in the deadly 1993 blasts that left 257 people dead and over 700 injured in what was then the world's worst urban terror attack.

He is the brother of one of the main accused, Tiger, who along with others is absconding. Indian officials believe he and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim are in Pakistan.
