On December 5, Bollywood's celebrated costume designer, Manish Malhotra, will join the 50s club. He admits to hitlist that he isn't delighted. "Being 50 isn't the best feeling but thank God I don't look my age. I am overwhelmed. Honestly, I don't feel 50 either," he confesses. After having completed a photoshoot with Katrina Kaif in Maldives last week, Manish jetted of to Dubai for a friend's party and then headed for Abu Dhabi. The birthday boy finally returned to Mumbai yesterday, but his friends seem to be in no mood to give him time off. The plan to have him walk to the other side of 50 with a night of celebrations is complete.

Helming the planning is Manish's friend of 25 years, filmmaker Karan Johar, the grandeur of whose arrangements are synonymous with his big screen releases. Manish was in fact the one to style the stars of Karan's debut 1998 hit, 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'.

Karan is going to fly down chefs from Lucknow and Goa to cook up Indian, Thai and continental fare. Since Manish relishes Awadhi cuisine, Karan also appointed khansamas to put together a spread of Awadhi Biryani, Shahi Korma, Galauti Kebab and Shahi Murg. Amidst the dessert spread is Manish's weakness - chocolate truffles - which Karan in decadent style is having shipped from Italy.

Talking about the director's efforts, Manish adds, "People talk highly about awards, but friends like Karan really make everyday worthwhile. It will be a celebration with music, food and friends in attendance."

While Karan is the master of arrangements, the guest list has been chalked out by Manish himself. Says a friend of the designer, "Anyone who has ever worked with Manish, including Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, will be there. Urmila Matondkar is expected to come with husband Mohsin Akhtar Mir. Karisma (Kapoor), Kareena (Kapoor Khan), Saif (Ali Khan), Malaika and Amrita (Arora Ladak) will also be there."

Meanwhile, we hear that the staffers at the venue will sport a special uniform with gold embroidery, a creation by Manish himself.

Can the guests expect a special performance? Manish's filmmaker nephew, Punit Malhotra (I Hate Luv Storys) says, "There is no special performance, but we are a big Punjabi family. We can expect impromptu gigs."

Was Dale Bhagwagar aware of Elena Kazan's fate on Bigg Boss?

Bigg Boss 10 has suffered its biggest blows this week. Media reports say, as per TRP ratings, the show does not feature anywhere among the top ten shows on television. Moreover, BB10 had to let go of one of its biggest attractions Om Swami this week because of a pending theft case lodged against him in a Delhi court.

Apart from that another controversial attraction Manu Punjabi was given an emergency exit after his mother passed away due to a respiratory disease. To top it all, Wild Card entry Elena Kazan who was expected to be a glam quotient, was eliminated from the show within a week from entering it.

Bollywood PR guru Dale Bhagwagar, who has handled media for a full 20 names on the show till Season 9, has not taken on any PR client for BB10 inspite of having interacted with 6-7 names including Gaurav Chopra, Rohan Mehra, Priyanka Jagga and even Elena Kazan before they entered.

On being asked why he did not sign up Elena, the celebrity publicist revealed, "I only wished her well for the show, but did not pitch for PR." When we asked, if he was aware she wouldn't last, Dale just smiled and gave a generic answer.

"PR is all about spinning content with knowledge, planning, strategy, clarity and vision. But this year, each and every BB contestant seems to be going about their appearance in an andhadhun (unfocused) fashion. Intelligent PR is not possible in such a scenario."

Tamannah Bhatia to try something new

The stunning and talented actress Tamannah Bhatia who recently gave a super-hit blockbuster with Prabhudeva and Sonu Sood in the trilingual film Tutak Tutak Tutiya is all set to create fire on stage with her sensations dance moves. The Bollywood actress would be seen performing at the Star Screen Awards, which are going to be held on 4th December at MMRDA grounds, Bandra-Kurla Complex.

Saqib binge eating in his hometown

After making a promising start in Bollywood, Saqib Saleem, the "Mere Dad Ki Maruti" actor says he has decided to stick to good content rather than opting to do back-to-back films. The 28-year-old Delhi boy says he will not do a project just for the sake of being noticed. He says,` "I can't do too many films. I take time with my films and I want to work on every script properly before I move on to something else.`

The actor, who also made a striking appearance in 'Bombay Talkies,' says he was also absent from the silver screen because some of his projects got shelved. "I was doing a couple of films which got shelved before a week the shooting was supposed to start. I guess that also put me at the backfoot. I was driving things in life on fourth gear, but now I am on third gear." "I need to accelerate things. But I will still not sign everything that comes to me. I will stick to doing right films and not lie to myself or the audience."

Saqib's next project is a happy and fun love story which also stars 'Pink' actress Taapsee Pannu. The cast and crew are in Delhi for the shooting. "I am very excited as I have never shot in Delhi before. This is my home, I have grown up here and there is nothing more special than shooting in your hometown. And more than me, my friends and family are exited. They want to visit the sets. I am looking forward to the schedule."

Saqib, who at the moment is on low calorie high protein food diet, is planning to indulge in some delicious home-cooked food. "I have not eaten a good unhealthy meal for a long time as I have to keep fit for my role in the film. I am missing a lot of Mughlai dishes. And I wish to hog on to some delicious food my mom cooks. "I miss Delhi food a lot.

"Delhi - Mumbai debate will always be there. Though I am Dilliwala by heart, I know I can't live anywhere else other than Mumbai. The vibe of the city is amazing. My heart is in Delhi and my life is in Mumbai."

Even though he is only a few movies old, his performances have always been memorable and appreciated critically as well as by the audiences. Looking forward to see him more often.

Why Commando 2 release is pushed?

Vidyut Jamwal and Adah Sharma starrer 'Commando 2' was to be released on 6th January 2016 but due to the current issue of Demonetisation the films release has been pushed ahead.

The high on action flick will now get released on 3rd March 2016.

Vipul Amrutlal Shah the producer of the film shared,"We have worked very hard on the film and we want it to have a good release. Xxx has shifted its date to 13th January, which means we will have more then one film releasing in our 2nd week. We think our film has a very strong content as it deals with black money and we feel that it's not just a weekend film and hence we are moving the film to March".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision of demonetizing Rupees 500 and 1000 has shook one and all.

Similarly, it has taken Bollywood by storm as it has affected the business of film industry drastically.

When considering demonetisation, basic necessity becomes priority and entertainment business gets affected, which has been quite visible with the Box Office collection of movie releases.

So the producer's of some films are pushing the release of their film ahead in order to ensure that their film doesn't get affected because of the turbulent issue of demonetisation, last week erotic thriller 'Wajah Tum Ho' also postponed its release date by a fortnight.

Bhansali loved what he saw

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is mesmerized by Deepika Padukone's beauty. The day shooting for Padmavati had commenced, Sanjay was allured by the look of the actress on sets.

Padmavati which is an upcoming period drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie is a tale of the greatest Sultan of Hindustan and his obsessive love for the legendary queen, Padmavati, who was known for her beauty, intellect and courage. Rani Padmini, the legendary queen which is being played by Deepika in the movie is known for her prepossessing beauty.

Deepika and Sanjay mark a hatrick with Padmavati after working in Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani.

Sanjay was very convinced that Deepika was the only choice for this particular character who could pull of this film on her shoulders.

Spokesperson adds, Deepika has started the shoot of the film and is loving every bit of it. This would be her third film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The duo share an incredible rapport and she is glad to be shooting for it.

This is where SRK feels the 'happiest'

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday took to Twitter to share with his fans where he feels the happiest. Surprisingly, he was not talking about his Mumbai residence Mannat this time. The 51-year-old actor revealed that the set of his upcoming film 'Raees' makes him joyful.

"Raees Trailer out in 3 days. Feel the happiest when I am on Raees set. My highlite of the day," he posted on the social media along with an adorable selfie.

The much-waited trailer of 'Raees' will be out on December 7 this year. SRK made this announcement recently in an interesting video. In the short clip, he also invited fans for interaction during the trailer launch event.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, 'Raees' is set in 1980s Gujarat and revolves around a bootlegger Raees Khan, played by King Khan.

The trailer of the film will be released in as many as 3,500 theatres across cities and SRK will be seen interacting with the audiences of a few select cities like Delhi, Indore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Mumbai and Moga) through video conferencing, according to a release by the Excel Entertainment, Red Chillies Entertainment and UFO digital cinema.

The movie is slated to release on January 26 next year.

OMG! Saar Rajini gets injured

According to sources, the actor fell down during the shooting for the film at Kelambakkam.

Superstar Rajinikanth, who was shooting in Chennai for his upcoming film 2.0, suffered from a knee injury on Saturday. He resumed shooting after treatment for the minor injury on the same night.

Sources said that following treatment, the actor had resumed shooting for a night schedule in Chennai. A video of Rajinikanth from the sets of the movie was also circulated where the actor could be seen walking and waving to fans who had gathered there.

The shooting of 2.0 , which is being readied for a 2017 Diwali release, is currently underway in Chennai. Also starring Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar, the first look of the movie was released in a grand event in Mumbai recently.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, in partnership with A.A. Films, is set to produce India's first war-at-sea film The Ghazi Attack, which will feature actress Taapsee Pannu.

"Dharma Productions (Karan's production house) is proud to partner with A.A. films for 'The Ghazi Attack' -- India's first war-at-sea film! Dharma movies, Rana Daggubati," Karan tweeted on Sunday while sharing a poster of the upcoming film.

"'The Ghazi Attack' releases in theatres on February 17, 2017. Thrilled about this one," he added.

Taapsee, who has earlier worked in Telugu language films like Jhummandi Naadam, Vastadu Naa Raju and Mr. Perfect, also tweeted: "Finally back on Telugu screens with this special appearance. Proud to be a small part of this big film 'The Ghazi Attack', India's first under water war film!"

'Pink' rocked at Star Screen Awards 2016

Shoojit Sircar's critically-acclaimed "Pink" bagged as many as four awards, including for the Best Film, at the 23rd Star Screen Awards 2016 here on Sunday.

While megastar Amitabh Bachchan received the Best Actor award for the film, Aditya Bannerji got the Best Editing award and Ritesh Shah got the Best Dialogue award for "Pink".

Actress Alia Bhatt received the best actress award for "Udta Punjab".

One of the highlights of Star Screen Awards 2016 was Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan coming together to host the event. However, the show's first segment was hosted by Karan Johar and Karan Singh Grover.

As evergreen beauty Rekha was bestowed with the Lifetime achievement award. Actress Sonam Kapoor did a special performance on Rekha and the veteran actress also enthralled audience with a performance on a popular old song.

The Critics Choice For Best Actor award went to Sushant Singh Rajput for "M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story" and the Critics Choice For Best Actress went to Swara Bhaskar for "Nil Battey Sannata".

Several Bollywood celebrities attended the award function including Alia, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Bipasha Basu, Harshvardhan Kapoor, Huma Quereshi, Sonam, Divya Khosla Kumar among others.

Wanna Know: What Befikre is all about?

Actor Ranveer Singh says that his forthcoming film "Befikre" has a nice story apart from the much talked about kissing scenes.

"Yes, there is a story. When Adi sir (the film's director Aditya Chopra) showed the trailer to me before releasing it, I asked him why he is releasing a promo that has so much more to it? The promo does not give you anything about the world of the film," Ranveer told IANS here.

"I had an argument with him regarding that, but I think he wants the audience to discover the characters of the film while watching and that is why he deliberately cut a very surface level promo. It's a very conscious choice that he made to 'under promise and over deliver' to his audience," he added.

The actor, who is paired with actress Vaani Kapoor in the film, said the audience will start discovering the two characters from the first scene of the film once people watch it.

"Though it is light-hearted, it is not a frivolous film," said Ranveer, who has shown his romantic side in films like "Band Baaja Baaraat", "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela", "Lootera" and "Bajirao Mastani".

The audience will get to see more of it in "Befikre", which is the celebration of carefree love and a romantic relationship.

How are love stories in Hindi cinema changing and is the audience receptive towards it?

He said: "I think we have room for both -- 'Befikre' and 'Bajirao Mastani'. Yes, there is a generational shift when it comes to the outlook of a romantic relationship. The young generation communicates through social media more. That was not accessible during my formative years like when I was 17-18 years old."

"Now, judging people based on their choices of romantic relationship is not cool. The young generation is open-minded. However, there is room for classic romantic love stories as well."

"Befikre" is his first film in which he is being directed by Chopra, head honcho of Yash Raj Films.

Talking about his equation with with the filmmaker, Ranveer said: "You see the director-actor equation is more substantial and dynamic than a producer-actor. We have interacted more during the shooting of the film."

"So, I got to know a different side of him...whether he has a wicked sense of humour or has a bindass carefree attitude. He is a private person and as an actor, I feel fortunate to know him closely."

In the past, Ranveer has acted in Chopra-produced films, including the actor's debut movie "Band Baaja Baaraat".

What makes it so special to be part of any Yash Raj Films project?

He said: "I think there is a certain amount of assurance with which the production will be executed. The film will be mounted and you know there will be no stone unturned from the producer's end to do the best for the film. And there is a certain amount of prestige value to it."

Back in 2012 when Kahaani had released, the film had opened to Rs. 3 crore on Friday. However, it had enjoyed very good word of mouth and its weekend had closed at Rs. 15 crore. Now in 2016 when Kahaani 2 has released and opened to Rs. 4.25 crore, the weekend is Rs. 16.75 crore*. This is better than Kahaani though if one compares with the hike in ticket rates over last four years, there isn't much of a difference. Nonetheless, considering the fact that response to sequels/franchise affairs has been largely terrible in 2016, it is still a relief of sorts that Kahaani 2 has at least done decent business.

Now it has to be seen how quick does Kahaani 2 manage to surpass the Week One collections of Kahaani. The Vidya Balan starrer had collected Rs. 22.75 crore after its first week and that mark should be crossed by Kahaani 2 as well. The real challenge though would be to proceed from that point on since word of mouth for Kahaani had spread phenomenally from second week onwards. It is going to be a wait and watch situation for Sujoy Ghosh and company till the second weekend.

Meanwhile, Dear Zindagi had stayed afloat in its second weekend. The collections came from the select cities where the film's target audience lies and that has resulted in the sum total of Rs. 59 crore been achieved so far. By the time the second week comes to a close, Rs. 65 crore would be surpassed. From there on, it would boil down to how big Befikre opens and sustains as it would make a difference of Rs. 3-5 crore in the lifetime collections of the Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

Dear Zindagi shines critically and commercially

Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dear Zindagi hit the cinemas on November 25 and has continued to endear the audiences ever since. The movie is about a girl's journey of self-discovery that is being hugely appreciated by both the critics and the audiences across the globe.

'Times Of India' stated that the film holds up a mirror to life, with nuanced performance by Alia and sober avatar donned by Shah Rukh Khan, whereas 'Gulf News' felt the movie is heartwarming, sensitive and joyously entertaining.

Dear Zindagi, has completed a successful week at the box office. The film has done exceptionally well across the globe and the response in India has been exceptional and unprecedented in such times. The film is 'The New York Times' 'Critics Pick and they have described it as an insightful movie and a resounding victory for Ms. Shinde.

The industry finds the success of the film laudable it clearly indicates that a film with strong content will attract viewers. Talking about the positive response for the film, Ashish Saksena, COO-Cinemas, BookMyShow, said "Dear Zindagi, despite its limited release, has been extremely successful and continues to perform strongly due to positive word of mouth surrounding the film. BookMyShow has so far contributed about 40% to the film's overall India collection. The film actually helped people get back into the theatres after demonetisation, which is reflective in its box office success.`

Dear Zindagi is an example of a nearly perfect model of collaboration between three companies Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions and Hope Productions, with a low cost of production and focused marketing and distribiution strategy adopted for genre and appeal of the film. Adding more to this noted trade analyst Komal Nahta says "Dear Zindagi is a shining example of how new-age cinema can also be hardcore commercial. Thanks to intelligent budgeting, the profit will be huge, over Rs. 50 crores in the film which cost Rs. 22 crore to make. The thoughtful release strategy has also gone a long way in optimising theatrical revenues. And all this in spite of the cash crunch in people's hands after demonetisation of high-denomination currency notes!".the demonetisation impact and finish, an otherwise anxious November."
