"It's time for double celebration as Salman has been acquitted and I am extremely happy for him. I will be meeting him in the evening. As soon as you enter Salman's house, it's like a party time. Daisy had forayed into Bollywood with Salman-starrer “Jai Ho” in 2014.
The Bombay High Court on Thursday gave a clean chit to Salman in the September 28, 2002, accident case citing lack of evidence. Justice A.R. Joshi said the actor "cannot be convicted" on the basis of the evidences produced by the prosecution in the 13-year-old case and trial.
It was not only an emotional moment for Salman, who broke down in court after hearing the verdict, but for his family members as well.

People pleaser no more! Priyanka Chopra admits she is 'not that naive'

In a candid chat with mid-day, Priyanka Chopra reveals she is 'not that naive' any longer, but tries not to let herself become cynical and bitter
Priyanka Chopra has not forgotten to have fun in spite of her mad schedule and constant shuttling between Canada and India. Excerpts from a quick chat with PeeCee:
Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra Q. You recently hosted a party at your Montreal home for your Quantico colleagues...

A. I can’t even begin to tell you how crazy it is. We are always running against time. We have shot 13 episodes in five months. That’s about nine days per episode. Now, episode 10 is being aired and we are shooting episode 12 — it is that close. So, yes, for the sake of a break, I got everyone on the sets to come home one night for a party. We got a DJ too.

Q. It must have been crazy playing diverse characters — Kashibai (in Bajirao Mastani) and Alex Parrish (in Quantico) — almost simultaneously.

A. It was absolute madness. I was a lost case. I felt like a schizophrenic. Thankfully, i could slip in and out because even here (Canada), the writers are amazing. And there, of course, we have Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a genius filmmaker. You know, I picked up this role because Kashibai’s character is so heartbreakingly lovely. It is nice to be part of retelling the history that people have forgotten. I am so different from what Kashibai was. So, it was kind of fun creating her… with zero make-up and light eyed lenses, because she was a Maharashtrian Brahmin and everything had to be kept natural. Sanjay sir would not even allow the use of electric curlers on my hair. It had to be curled through hand. He didn’t want to compromise on anything. We looked at old movies to get ideas. Besides, I had to wear that 11-yard saree; it was so difficult to carry it around that I begged him to make the trail smaller. And then he did make it slightly smaller. Kashibai is this naïve, child-woman character and it was nice playing her.

Q. You were also like Kashibai, a naïve, child-woman when you entered this industry.

A. (Laughs) That’s true. You had seen me then. I was really naïve for at least seven to eight years after I got in here. I am a little wiser now. I don’t change myself for the world anymore now. Even though I am not that naïve, I try and not allow myself to get cynical and bitter. That’s me.
Q. Well, looks like Kashibai is already a hit. We hear you were offered a R9-crore endorsement deal by an ethnic wear brand.

A. I won’t discuss the price point, but yes, there is a good offer. You know I have taken pride in doing such diverse roles… characters that are not the real me. I enjoy taking up characters which others might think is impossible for me to portray. I am the shyest person off screen, but when I get such roles, I change and become empowered.
Q. People have raised objections to certain ways the characters in Bajirao Mastani have been portrayed.

A. We are telling stories about human beings. And what these three human beings (Bajirao, Mastani and Kashibai) went through 500-plus years ago, no one knows. It is the director’s vision of what might have happened. It is so difficult to tell such stories. I tell Sanjay sir that by now he must be used to such objections. I truly admire him for his work; he’s one of the greatest cinematic voices that we have in the country. I have travelled the world, but everywhere I go I really feel proud to say I belong to Bollywood. I walk around with a strut like a peacock. We are the most prolific film industry and people everywhere are fascinated by Bollywood. It is time we give ourselves that credit.

Q. You mean we need to have a lot more self confidence?

A. I do. I have major self confidence because I am an actor in Bollywood first.

Saira Banu: Whenever we celebrate Dilip Kumar's birthday, he falls sick

As he turns 93 today, legendary actor Dilip Kumar will have a quiet birthday celebration as a mark of solidarity towards the victims of the Chennai deluge.

"We will have a quiet birthday this year with family only. He is saddened by the tragedy in Chennai. It's a big tragedy and we don't think it is right to celebrate anything," Kumar's wife Saira Bano told PTI.
Even otherwise, Saira is not in favour of having a bash on the thespian's birthday, as she feels that whenever his special day is celebrated, the veteran actor falls sick.
"I think whenever we celebrate his birthday, he falls sick. I feel there is an evil eye, as soon after after the celebrations he has health issues," she said.
Dilip Kumar made his debut as an actor in the film "Jwar Bhata" in 1944 which was produced by Bombay Talkies.
In a career spanning over six decades, he starred in films of a variety of genres, such as the romantic "Andaz" (1949), the swashbuckling Aan (1952), the dramatic "Devdas" (1955), the comical "Azaad" (1955), the historical "Mughal-e-Azam" (1960) and the social "Ganga Jamuna" (1961).
The 'tragedy king of Bollywood' also did films like "Kranti" (1981), "Shakti" (1982), "Karma" (1986) and "Saudagar" (1991) and others. His last film was "Qila" (1998).
The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan award in 1991,the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan this year for his contributions towards Indian cinema.
The Pakistan government also honoured him with its highest civilian honour - Nishan-e-Imtiaz - in 1997.

Shah Rukh Khan beats Salman Khan to be India's top-earning celeb

Shah Rukh Khan has regained his position as India's top-earning celebrity with estimated earnings of Rs 257.5 crore this year, pushing Salman Khan to the second position in the latest Forbes list.
Shah Rukh had lost his top rank to 'friend and archrival' Salman last year and had slipped to the third position, Forbes said in its annual India Celebrity List for 2015 today.

Salman Khan and SRK. Pic/Colors Twitter account Incidentally, the list comes a day after Salman Khan was acquitted by Bombay High Court in a nearly 13-year-old hit and run case.
Salman's estimated earnings, as per the latest list, stands at Rs 202.75 crore -- more than Rs 50 crore less than that of Shah Rukh Khan. Amitabh Bachchan is at third position, down from his second position last year.
Forbes said the total wealth of top 100 celebrities stood at Rs 2,819 crore, while cinema and cricket dominate the top-ten positions.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ranked fourth and is followed by Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan in top-ten.
Besides the earnings estimates, the overall Celebrity 100 list also takes into account the fame. "Their gross pre-tax earnings are combined with their fame scores to arrive at the Forbes India Celebrity 100 List," the magazine said.
In terms of earnings alone also, 50-year-old Shah Rukh topped the list while Salman is at the second position.
However, Akshay Kumar ranks higher at third position in terms of earnings and is followed by Dhoni and Bachchan at fourth and fifth places, respectively.
Forbes said Shah Rukh's estimated earnings at Rs 257.5 crore is the highest ever any celebrity has made in the four-year history of the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list.
"In fact, his earnings make up as much as 9 per cent of the total wealth of the top 100 celebrities this year - Rs 2,819 crore," it said, although he still lags behind at number-four in terms 'fame' ranking where 73-year-old Bachchan reigns at the top position.
Aamir Khan has made it to the top five for the first time. He is at number 5 on the list this year and his superhit movie PK and revenues from brand endorsements helped him rake in an estimated Rs 104.25 crore, his highest in the last four years.
"It is an increase of 145 per cent to the amount he earned in 2012. On the other hand, Alia Bhatt and Madhuri Dixit have moved up the list despite any movie release in the time period under consideration (October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015).
Their rise on the list is entirely due to earnings from brand endorsements and their fame quotient," Forbes said.
The list this year has also witnessed a few who jumped ranks and moved up considerably higher in just one year. Among the top-three rank gainers are Dhanush (who moved up 41 ranks) and is at number 37, Rohit Sharma and Allu Arjun (both moved up 38 ranks) and are at number 12 and number 42, respectively.
This year's list has 14 debutants, among them cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who comes in straight at number 31. Filmmaker SS Rajamouli and actor Prabhas make it to the list due to the monster hit Baahubali.
There were more dropouts this year though -- 19 celebs lost their ranks on the Celebrity 100 list for 2015 including Sanjay Leela Bhansali, A R Murugadoss and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
