'Bigg Boss 9' Day 53: Mandana fights with her team over task

Mandana Karimi who is seething with rage over her destroyed belongings, fights with her own teammates who are asking her to give up the task. Will she pay heed?
With the housemates being tested on their 'pride' quotient, the war to destroy the opponent’s belongings continues with Mandana and Kawaljeet being the targets during the task. When Mandana’s prized possessions are taken away and destroyed, Mandana claims that she is emotionally attached to those three items. She further continues by saying that the items taken away from Kawaljeet only beget his materialistic attachment and do not stand even ground to her emotions.
While housemates claim that Mandana’s selfishness does not allow her to see other’s emotions, Kawaljeet keeps up his stance by saying that he does not care about anything else but his spondylitis pillow.
Mandana gathers up her team members Keith, Rochelle and Prince in the bedroom and tells them that she does not wish to give up on the task because her favorite belongings have been taken away and destroyed. Rochelle and Keith oppose her opinion and ask her if she will not feel guilty about destroying anyone else's belongings. They also request Kawaljeet to give up when Priya overhears this and forbids them from convincing Kawaljeet to give up. After this, Kawaljeet's team takes away Mandana's Versace shoes and destroys them as well.
Later, when Rochelle requests someone to stop this task because it has reached beyond everyone's tolerance level, Mandana claims that they will always have a problem with her because when she gives up during a task, they want her to continue and when she diligently does her task, she is asked to give up! Rochelle says that they are only fighting for her belongings and do not wish to see them destroyed.
Realising that the house has been immersed in chaos, Priya puts order to the task and says that as the supervisor of the task, she has come to a conclusion. She says that if a team wants to give up on a task, she will take that as the final verdict. Rochelle, Keith and Prince who are convinced that they wish to discontinue the task immediately raise the white flag, much to Mandana’s dismay. Later, Rishabh feels bad for Mandana and hugs her, emoting how much he empathises with her situation.
Meanwhile, in the garden area, Prince and Kishwer get into a heated argument when Kishwer blames Prince for destroying Kawaljeet's spondylitis pillow and says that they should have thought before taking away Kawaljeet's medical conditions. In his defense, Prince says that they did not intend to make him suffer. Prince further retorts by saying that according to his logic, Bigg Boss would have most definitely returned the spondylitis pillow to him after the task and that’s why they decided to destroy it.
After lights out, Mandana is still seething with rage and talking to Rishabh about how Keith and Rochelle always try and maintain their image. Rishabh tells her firmly that it was her attitude that went against her. Overhearing the conversation, Keith tells Mandana that he does not play upon his image and that the task was primarily about taking it to a level where everyone's tolerance level will be put to test.

"I honestly hate wearing make-up. Lately, I've just been so over it. I feel like I'm way too young to wear such heavy make-up all the time.
"It's just bad for your skin, but I'm always doing photo shoots or red carpets and events, so I just obviously want to look good," Kylie told Interview magazine, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Kylie doesn't rely on a make-up artist to do up her face as she prefers to put her own spin on her look.
Taking to her website KylieJenner.com last week, the reality TV personality gave fans an insight into how she gets impeccable skin and a nice plump pout.
After applying her moisturiser in the clip, the reality TV star dished out some top tips on how she corrects her eyebrows after she has accidentally filled them in too much.

"(I am) my most authentic self. I don't want there to be a big separation between the public and the private person. It's definitely the harder road to tread but without a doubt, ultimately the most rewarding," said the "Noah" actress, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"It sounds like a ridiculous thing to say, but I'm very interested in truth, in finding ways to be messy and unsure and flawed and incredible and great and my fullest self, all wrapped into one. When you watch the work of someone like actress Emma Thompson, you feel like you're seeing something true, and I aspire to that," she added.
She said she spent so long working on her "Harry Potter" character Hermione Granger that she didn't get to figure out who she really was until now.
"(I've) spent more than half of my life pretending to be someone else. While my contemporaries were dyeing their hair and figuring out who they were, I was figuring out who Hermione was and how best to portray her," Watson told Porter Magazine, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"Now at 25, for the first time in my life, I feel like I have a sense of self that I'm comfortable with," she added.

The 73-year-old also revealed he has already seen the movie and was impressed with director J.J. Abrams' work.
"It was great. It's a wonderful movie, it's got great production values. It's a real big movie and I was delighted to see it," he said.

Kourtney also wants Disick to avoid contact with his ex-lovers and find new ways to make money.

"If you see your ex looking beautiful and you realise you've made some poor decisions, it's hurtful. I think it makes him want to win her back even more," added Weintraub.

Kunal Kapoor to start shooting action film in south soon

Kunal Kapoor to start shooting action film in south soon

"Rang De Basanti" fame actor Kunal Kapoor is looking forward to filming his first action movie down south soon.

"I will start shooting for a film soon in a month's time. It's an action film which is exciting for me as I have never done action. It's not a multi-starrer and we will be shooting down south," Kunal told IANS at the Van Heusen + GQ Fashion Nights on Tuesday here.

While action is one genre that he is excited about, he shared that he doesn't want to restrict himself to one role or a film and that he would like to experiment before he decides what he loves or doesn't.

He is also working on a "couple of scripts".

"They will go into production soon. I am excited about that. I will act in them as well. They will give me a chance to experiment and write roles for myself. I think nobody else knows you better than you on what you are capable of," said the actor, who has also featured in films "Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana".

"I have three scripts right now and all are different genres. One is a romantic film, the other one is a comedy. The third film is an action film again. I've pitched them to a couple of people and have producers on board for two of them," he added.

What about producing films like his fellow actors?

"Producing films is not something on my mind right now. But if I find a great script that is not finding any backers, then I would of course consider it," said the actor, who walked in a tuxedo with hair neat ly tied up and a hat in hand as a showstopper for Van Heusen at the fashion event that provides a tailored platform for menswear fashion in the country.

As Vani Kannan, head of design, Van Heusen, shared, the collection which had geometric prints and used different shades of pink all over was made with the 1920s in mind.

Kunal certainly enjoyed sporting the retro look.

"It was nice to go back to the 1920s when people dressed up well. Now, it's mostly about a pair of jeans and a tee... It's slightly boring," said the actor.

Asked about his personal choice, he shared that there's "no defined rule that I follow when it comes to fashion".

"Whatever catches my fancy... It can be jeans and a tee or a tuxedo. I don't have a particular mindset when it comes to fashion. I enjoy experimenting," he added.

He agrees that denims are a staple in everybody's wardrobe, but it 's great fun to dress up.

Whom does he consider to be the most stylish man in the industry?

"I think Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. He is in his 70s now and yes, he is a relative, but besides that he is trendy and fashionable. Even when you look at him now, the clothes that he wears and the stuff that he carries off, I don't think anybody else can," said Kunal, who is married to the megastar's niece Naina.

Celeb from Assam share their feelings and love for the state on the eve of ASSAM DAY

Celeb from Assam share their feelings and love for the state on the eve of ASSAM DAY

December 2 has been celebrated in Assam as the Asom Divas (Assam Day), Assam has a unique landscape with sprawling tea gardens and unending stretches of paddy fields interspersed with groves of coconut, areca nuts, and banana trees. Celeb from Assam share their feelings and love for the state, Assam. They talk on how government should put eye for the upbringing of the state.

RATI PANDEY: The best thing I love about assam is the warmth among the people and their hospitality. Its well known for its heritage and greenery. Especially for the quality of tea which you cannot get else where. The things that the Government of Assam should work upon majorly is in their education system, employment and majorly on putting up good industries in the states focusing more on plywood industries, as I remember more than 800 plywood industries were shut down during 2002-3 and it was mostly in Assam for this lot of people are still out of work and facing lot of difficulties and lot of factories have become nothing more than an empty shack now. So I think the government needs to revive this heritage which it was known for.

DIPANNITA SHARMA: Having born and brought up in Assam and being a true Assamese I feel very strongly for the region despite not living there. I feel the entire essence of Assam has been under wraps for too long, not just its problems in the past but also its culture. Thankfully through the efforts of the Assamese people collectively and individually as well as some steps being taken by past and present government, slowly but surely Assam is finding its way for its time in the sun. Assam is a wonderful land of our country, full of soft, sensitive and beautiful people, of a unique culture. I hope we can celebrate its uniqueness beauty forever.

MAHIKA SHARMA: Assam is the land where warmth among the people and their hospitality can be easily felt and can be seen. Indian government should think about the development of Tea-based industry here. Coal, petroleum and natural gas, limestone and minor minerals are produced in the state so it makes the land rich enough. Assam is also known for its rich forest wealth with varieties of flora and fauna. The state itself is golden land for the country. If one thinks about the art and culture of the state it would take hearts away. I really have special value and respect for my state Assam. No doubt India is my family but Assam is to be my parents.

PARINEETA BORTHAKUR: Assam to me is the most beautiful place in this world. I have grown up in Duliajan, a clean, beautiful town where the bungalows were constructed during British time, and are still beautiful. It is the head quarters of oil India limited. After coming to Mumbai, and living here for the last 15 years, though I am used to the city life, but still I miss the greenery, the open spaces and those slow and lazy days in Assam. The best thing about the state is that we don't have dowry system and people in general are simple, artistic in their views and are broad minded. This makes Assam and Assamese people different from the rest of the world.

ARUNIMA SHARMA: Assam is one among the most beautiful states in our country India. Government of Assam should keep eyes on textile industry or tourism. The national highway needs to be made much much better and of course water and electricity problems really needs to be taken care of. Assam is also very rich in culture, amazing cuisine. We have beautiful hand woven clothes, Assam silk and what not. We need to make all these things known not just to the people of this country but also to the world. Assam has the potential of being one of the top most tourist destination of this country.

Gulzar suggests separate National Awards for films on disabled

Gulzar suggests separate National Awards for films on disabled

Indian cinema's wordsmith Gulzar, who has touched many with his lyrics and films, says movies on differently abled people should be separately honoured at the National Awards to encourage more filmmakers to tell stories of the special.

Gulzar was here to attend a screening of his daughter Meghna Gulzar's documentary "Closer" at the first edition of International Film Festival for Persons with Disabilities (IFFPwD) on Wednesday.

Happy with a film festival dedicated to the cause, Gulzar told IANS: "It's a good thing that we are getting to witness film festivals like these, mainly because they are focussing on a very big part of the society. It's not that we didn't know about the disabled, but our focus was not much on them."

"With such type of festivals, our focus has shifted towards that section of the society which we need to pay attention towards. Sometimes I feel that disabled people don't need our help as much as we need theirs, because we have somehow neglected them. They don't care for us and they are proving themselves without much support," added the industry veteran.

The 81-year-old also feels more film galas like these must happen.

"I also wish that in National Awards, there should be a particular session or award especially for these kind of films. It will be an encouraging step," he added.

Gulzar said that it's the entertainment industry's responsibility to make more films on such issues as cinema creates a big impact in changing viewers' perception towards the society.

"Cinema plays an essential role. It can create an impact on people's perception. If it wouldn't have, then I won't have been here. The reason and consciousness with which you make a film doesn't end with that film. Everything that you say in the film is your conviction and you have to prove that in real life too," said the filmmaker, who has made films like "Koshish" and "Parichay".

His daughter Meghna believes "people are making films on issues of disabled people, but we need platforms for them to be visible".

"There are examples like 'Koshish', 'Khamoshi', 'Taare Zameen Par', 'Black' and 'Yellow'. These are films that are made on such issues. We as makers make the film, but it gets slotted later as an art film or a niche film because of the audience viewing pattern. We as filmmakers have done our job by making a film, but it is dependent upon viewers and how they accept it."

Meghna, whose last directorial was "Talvar", also said that when people make films on social issues, the endeavour is that they can make a difference.

"Films are always a soft target for what goes wrong in the society. People think that whatever is happening is because of the type of films that they see. But films do a lot of other work as well. That doesn't get noticed. I hope it does," she said.

Talking about her documentary "Closer", Meghna said: "This film was made four years ago. When we were making this film, we had to remind people everytime that please don't say 'disabled' and say differently abled. Don't say deaf and dumb, say hearing or speech impaired. Because it was about softening those terms and removing the negativity."

The three-day festival, organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the social justice and empowerment ministry in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), started with the screening of Marathi film "Yellow" on Tuesday at the Siri Fort auditorium.

Talibanistic to beat people for not standing for national anthem: RGV

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, known for his outspoken ways, says it was "Talibanistic" when a Muslim family was forced to leave a theatre after they did not stand up when the national anthem was played before a film's screening here.

"Respect has to come from within and cannot be enforced.. It's downright talibanistic to beat up people for not standing for national anthem," Varma posted on Twitter on Wednesday.

The filmmaker, who has helmed movies like "Shool", "Sarkar" and "The Attacks of 26/11", also said the act was the "upper limit of height of intolerance".

"Beating up people for not standing up in the theatre while national anthem is being played is the upper limit of height of intolerance."

Mani Ratnam's wife to debut in Bollywood

Mani Ratnam's wife to debut in Bollywood

The National Award winning actress, Suhasini is paired opposite Naseeruddin Shah in Anu Menon's second film. Suhasini is wife of acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam and noted actress too. She is all set to step into Bollywood. The actress is making her debut opposite Naseeruddin Shah in Anu Menon's Waiting that is slated to have a world premiere at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) on December 11.

Interestingly however, the director reveals that Suhasini, who has acted in over 50 films in the South and even won a National Film Award for Best Actress for a Tamil film, required a little persuasion from her filmmaker-husband before she accepted the film.

Anu said, `Suhasini was shocked when I offered her the role of Naseer's wife. She said that the only time she had ever spoken in Hindi was with a Bihari cook.` The director reveals that in the film Suhasini's character speaks a mix of Hindi and English with a strong South Indian accent. `She used to take the script home and write all the Hindi lines in Tamil, learn them by rote and come to the sets word perfect,` adds the director.

Anu shares that she has drawn extensively from personal experiences for Waiting. `I was in a similar situation with my father but the film is not a literal account. It focuses more on the shock we feel and moving on. Eventually the shock and sadness disappears and people continue to drink their coffee," says the director who'd made her debut in 2012 with the rom-com London Paris New York.

Besides, Naseeruddin Shah, Kalki Koechlin and Suhasini Ratnam, the film also features Arjun Mathur as Kalki's husband and Rajat Kapoor in the crucial role of a doctor.

In Punjab !!! Sonu Sood gifts 50 cycles to his gym members

In Punjab !!! Sonu Sood gifts 50 cycles to his gym members

Sonu Sood has contributed to the society in his own way. He was always been at the forefront of noble causes. And this time, the talented actor and fitness freak has gone a step ahead. He has gifted cycles to his gym members on his recent visit to his hometown in Moga.

Not many people are aware of this fact that Sonu owns a spacious gym in his hometown Moga (Punjab) with all modern facilities. And all the fitness enthusiasts have been using the services of his gym free of cost. Like his good friend Salman Khan, who distributed cycles to street kids a few years ago, Sonu too recently distributed more than 50 cycles to his gym members so that they could travel to the gym daily on cycles, which is again a good form of exercise.

Sonu said, `I have been cycling for many years now, as I believe it's one of the best forms of exercise. Most of the gym members who stay far had to depend on public transport while some used to drive their motorcycles. But I believe cycling all the way to the gym will help them keep fit. My aim is to see eco-friendly and healthy Punjab. Moga is connected to 80 villages and most villagers walk miles to go to their places of work or come to my gym. People I have given the cycles to are poor and come from far-off villages. They usually travel by bus or get a lift on a bike to come to the gym.

"Apart from being eco-friendly, it is especially feasible in Punjab to use cycles on wide roads as bus services are not that good. It's quicker for them to reach their destination and remain fit too but most of them can't afford cycles. What they earn daily they earn and spend. They can't come regularly to the gym as they miss the bus and I want them to go regularly. People from the villages don't know anything about fitness and I want them to become more aware. By cycling they burn their calories while doing their work also like the milkman,` he added.

RGV still gaga over Sridevi's 'thunder thighs'

RGV still gaga over Sridevi's 'thunder thighs'

Boney Kapoor has called filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma "crazy", "bonkers" and a "pervert" for openly sharing his admiration for the producer's wife Sridevi. But that hasn't deterred RGV from praising the actress' "thundering thighs".

Varma has made a reference to Sridevi and her beauty in his autobiography "Gun & Thighs". At the book's launch, he even shared how to see the actress make tea in Kapoor's kitchen was a "letdown".

The comments have irked Kapoor, who has reportedly called the filmmaker "crazy, bonkers and a man with a perverted mindset".

Varma in turn defended himself by advising that the producer should read the chapter before commenting on him.

"My advise to Boney is to read my full article in 'Guns and Thighs' on Sridevi-ji before spewing venom on me," he wrote on Twitter, adding that he respects the "English Vinglish" actress as a fan.

"I as a fan have more respect for Srideviji than what Boney has for her as a wife... Only Srideviji will know the truth of this in her heart."

Varma, who has done films like "Kshana Kshanam" and "Govinda Govinda" with Sridevi, commented that the actress's popularity is not only because of her acting talent but also because of her "thundering thighs".

"Srideviji's fame is not only because of her acting capacity but it's also because of her thundering thighs -- top critics of 'Himmatwala time'... If only acting talent is a measure for stardom, why wasn't Smita Patil bigger than Sridevi-ji... The thunder thighs made the difference," he wrote.

"I respect Srideviji for her thighs, her smile, her acting talent, her sensitivity, her persona and above all I respect her love for Boney," he added.

Imtiaz doesn't take his audience for granted

Imtiaz doesn't take his audience for granted

"Tamasha" has touched many on a personal level with its story of self-realisation and director Imtiaz Ali says it is a response to those who believe audience understands only certain type of films.

"This film was made with a view that the audience is not stupid. I often feel they are more advanced than filmmakers.

We sometimes try to put our mistakes, our incapacities upon them. The heartwarming reaction to 'Tamasha', hopefully, will dispel that notion that the audience does not understand or you can fool them," Imtiaz told PTI in an interview.

The director says it is overwhelming and emotional to see people responding to Ved and Tara (played by Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone) as if it is their life that the film is talking about.

"I met this lady who said, 'You should have made the film earlier. I am too old to define my life now...' There were other people and before I could understand what she had said, she was gone. I wish I could have just talked to her... There are many such reactions to the story, which is exhilarating as a filmmaker."

Imtiaz has turned the traditional love story on its head to talk about the internal conflict and the eventual personal journey that the character takes in the movie to recognise the storyteller in him.

"It is only with love that somebody can reach your heart and make the correction that needs to be made. That was my vision. I don't know whether it qualifies as a love story or not but it is beautiful to me.

"There are so many things going on in this film. For example, seeing Ranbir and Deepika in Corsica, it is hard to believe that the scene just before 'Agar tum saath ho' will come in the movie."

Both Deepika and Ranbir have been praised for their performance in "Tamasha". Imtiaz, who has repeated Ranbir after "Rockstar" and Deepika after "Love Aaj Kal", says the actors responded to the story in a very instinctive manner.

"With Ranbir, I don't know what we are looking for but we seem to be looking for something in life. We connect on people, stories and feelings. It is exciting to explore a scene or feeling intuitively with him. I think we fulfill some desire in each other related to filmmaking."

As far as Deepika is concerned, Imtiaz says she was like the magic in the story.

"She is the grace in the movie. She is like the muse. In old texts, there is always this invocation to a feminine energy, she is that. I have seen women to be like that in life. You can grow only so much before a woman comes to take you to the next level, who touches you.

"It can be a destructive relationship or constructive... it is not necessary. A woman's touch is such a cliche but it operates. I have seen this happening around me." "Tamasha" released last Friday.

Super sad, hurt because of cuts: 'Angry Indian Goddesses' director

Super sad, hurt because of cuts: 'Angry Indian Goddesses' director

With the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanding as many as 16 cuts in Pan Nalin's "Angry Indian Goddesses", the filmmaker says he is "super sad and hurt" with the decision.

The film reportedly invoked the wrath of the censor board, headed by Pahlaj Nihalani who was also in news for cutting short kissing scenes in James Bond film "Spectre", for showing images of Hindu goddesses and for using certain words like "adivasi", "sarkar" and "Indian figure".

"I am super sad and hurt because we have used completely respectful images of Kali in the film, but we had to blur them out. I have grown up watching gods and goddesses all my life in films... We cut people's head in the films, and suddenly we have to remove images of the goddesses," Nalin said during a visit to the IANS office here with the cast of the film.

"Angry Indian Goddesses", which is touted as India's first 'female buddy' film, features an ensemble cast of Sarah-Jane Dias, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Sandhya Mridul, Rajshri Deshpande and Adil Hussain among others.

Singer and former VJ Anushka, who is making her acting debut with film, said that "we don't live in a democracy, but we live in a hypocrisy".

"It holds true for many things, not just the censor board. It's the way we run this country. We are more worried about what other people think rather than living our own lives. It's not 'jiyo or jeeno do (live and let live)'. In our country, it is not like that. It's really unfair... Even the whole situation with us, we have really worked hard on the film, our soul is into it," Anushka added.

Nalin confidently said that even if the film was not released in India, it would still find its way here due to the international acclaim it has already garnered.

"This is such a feminine force from India, which is like Kali, the shakti. Even if the film was never released here, it would find its way to come as it's releasing in so many countries, almost everywhere in the world, uncut. They are all commercial releases," he said.

"Even Egypt is releasing it uncut, so you can imagine. They see strength in the film, they know people will watch it, it will entertain and inspire," he added.

Sandhya, who was last seen on the silver screen in "Ragini MMS 2", said that they are not maligning or disrespecting anyone by calling women "goddesses" in the film.

"We are just having a conversation, we are not maligning anyone or disrespecting. We are just having a conversation about goddesses. Just like how Goddess Durga gets angry... Even Facebook has an app, 'Which goddess are you?'" Sandhya opined.

Nalin, who is known for films like "Samsara" and "Valley of Flowers" that have focused on spirituality and religion, said: "All the objection is not to associate Indian women with goddesses."

"Since Independence, every politician has addressed people as 'deviyon and sajjano (goddesses and gentlemen)," he said, pointing out at the dichotomy that exists in the society.

"Even if you look at our mythology, it is strange the gods do nothing, it's the goddesses who do it. There are only goddesses doing everything."

Sonali happy after taking break from acting

Sonali happy after taking break from acting

Actress Sonali Bendre is quite content taking a sabbatical from acting, which she considers both "tedious" and "joy".

The 40-year-old actress, who took a break from movies after giving birth to her son in 2005, was last year seen on the TV drama show 'Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye'.

"Last year I did a fiction show which was all about acting. I think I am quite happy to take a break from it. It's very tedious," Sonali said in an interview.

"Acting has its own joy where you're playing a different character without actually bearing the consequences of being that person. That's a great place to be in and for an actor it's the best thing," she said.

The 'Sarfarosh' actress made a special appearance in the 2013 Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara'.

She will now be seen judging a children's reality show, which she finds easier to shoot as she can spend time with her family too.

"It (acting) takes a certain amount of time. This (the show) I do one day a week. We try and work around the kids' timings.

When you have to shoot for one day in a week according to the kids' schedule, you can adjust easily. But ot working everyday...I think my child also needs me."

Ever since her break from acting, Sonali has mostly been seen as a judge in various reality TV shows and the actress said that was something which "just happened."

"I never thought I would be doing judging, it just happened. I think I came in with a certain honesty. If there is something I don't know, I say it. I am human," she said.

"Sometimes I feel the decision I am taking might be wrong, but right now my heart says this. Sometimes it goes wrong too...I can't be expected to be right every time.

I need to be honest and truthful to myself," she said.
