When Swara Bhaskar was deprived of sleep

Swara Bhaskar's character was supposed to have dark circles around her eyes in a few scenes in her upcoming film, 'Nil Battey Sannata'. In order to make it look real, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari didn’t allow the versatile actress to sleep for long.
Swara Bhaskar

Ashwiny informs, “I wanted Swara’s character to look stressed for particular scenes. When Swara informed me about her schedule, I asked her if she could shoot for the scenes late night for a natural sleep deprived look and she agreed. So what you see in the film are her real dark circles.”

Jai Bhanushali: It is really sad. She took such a big step and I don't know why. Initially I thought it must be an April fool's prank but then I got it confirmed through some of my media friends and close associates.
VJ Andy: Then I got a call from Tanisha who told me the same. Then my manager too confirmed it. I still cannot believe it. I am shocked."

Priyanka Chopra offered a film by Aditya Chopra?

Priyanka Chopra's date diary is packed to the hilt with commitments in the West and while she may not be able to accommodate fresh projects even at a push, Bollywood filmmakers haven't stopped reaching out to her. The actress, whose last outing 'Jai Gangaajal' hit theatres last month, hasn't signed any Hindi film so far although she is said to have evinced interest in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production, 'Gustakhiyaan' featuring Sushant Singh Rajput, Boney Kapoor's 'Sikhni' and Abhinay Deo's untitled superwoman flick.

Our sources now tell us she has also been offered a film by Yash Raj Films' chief Aditya Chopra. "He is keen to cast Priyanka for his next production venture which will be a woman-centric film. The YRF team has e-mailed the script to her and is waiting for a confirmation," a source says. PeeCee is currently juggling the shoot of her American TV series 'Quantico' in Montreal, Canada, and her maiden Hollywood flick 'Baywatch' in Miami, US.
Priyanka and YRF spokesperson remained unavailable for comment. A source close to the production house, however, confirms the buzz, saying, "Priyanka has received the script and has informed us that she will take a final call once she's back in India. Things are looking positive for us, but we are keeping our fingers crossed. At the moment, we are in the process of finalising the director."

What made Alia Bhatt cry?

Alia Bhatt is currently doing workshops to prep for her role in Gauri Shinde’s upcoming film. If the latest buzz is to be believed, the actress, who is paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan, cried during one of the sessions.
Alia Bhatt
Alia Bhatt.
Informs a source, “Alia is working with Gauri for the first time and was therefore unaware of the way she functions. It is only during the workshop that she realised that Gauri is a taskmaster. There have also been moments when a frustrated Alia cried because she could not get what the director had envisioned.”
She has completed the first schedule of the film in Goa in February and is prepared to shoot for the next schedule starting in May. The source adds, “During the first schedule too she had to take a lot of effort to ensure that the director is happy with her takes. But, now that she knows her well, she is prepared for the next schedule.”
However, when contacted Gauri rubbishes the report and says, "I wonder where this comes from."
Alia Batt also denies the rumour.

John Abraham and Varun Dhawan hang in mid air for 'Dishoom'

John Abraham, Akshaye Khanna and Varun Dhawan have shot for a high-octane action scene for their upcoming film, 'Dishoom'. The scene required them to hang in mid air from a helicopter.

The scene was shot in the Al Reem island, off Abu Dhabi. John is known for doing stunts, but for Varun and Akshaye it was an exhilarating moment. Akshaye returns to the big screen after a hiatus with this film.

Ekta Kapoor preferred Emraan Hashmi over the Khans for 'Azhar'

Producer Ekta Kapoor says she chose Emraan Hashmi over the Khans to play the protagonist in the upcoming biopic "Azhar", based on former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin.
Ekta Kapoor
Ekta Kapoor
Emraan plays the controversial and popular Indian skipper in "Azhar".
The Tony D'Souza-directed film shows the rise and fall of one of the greatest cricketers in Indian history.
"I think Emraan is one of the most amazing actors. He is a nice person. It is the role of a controversial yet good hearted cricketer, who has the love of masses. Either it would have been Khans or Emraan. We chose Emraan," Ekta told reporters at the trailer launch of "Azhar" last night in Mumbai.
Ekta, who is known for her innovative marketing skills, and plans to show the film to cricketers.
"We plan to show the film to lot of cricketers. The film is about the celebration of cricket and what happens when you are doing so well and how things change after one game goes wrong," Ekta said.
"Azhar" also stars Prachi Desai, Nargis Fakhri, Lara Dutta and Gautam Gulati.
The film is slated to release on May 13.

When Emraan Hashmi became a stalker for 'Azhar'

Actor Emraan Hashmi, who will be seen portraying former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin in the biopic "Azhar", says he almost became a "stalker" for the film to get a hang of the cricketer's "gestures".

"Eventually I almost became a stalker, I used to stare him to copy all his gesture. I think I made his life hell for three-four months," Emraan said at the trailer launch of the film.
The actor said that doing the film was a "tough journey".
"When we started actual shooting in London and Hyderabad, I was nervous because of the cricket portion. As Azhar bhai is a well-known personality, all have seen his mannerism and nuances. So if something goes wrong to portray his character, there would have been a chance of a huge criticism. I had to keep that in mind and noted even very minute things from how he walks to the way he eats," Emraan said.
Directed by Tony D'Souza, "Azhar", which is jointly produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and MSM Motion Picture, also stars Prachi Desai, Lara Dutta and Huma Qureshi in pivotal roles and is slated for a worldwide release on May 13, 2016.
The film will narrate the highs and lows of Azharuddin's life as the captain of the Indian cricket team for most of the 1990s and being tainted by a match-fixing scandal in 2000, and getting banned for life.

Shot in the dark: This actress is feeling insecure about her contemporary's success

This young actress has everything going for her. Professionally, she is busy with a big project and her personal life too seems to be pretty peaceful. However, the career graph of a certain actress seems to be making her insecure and she's keeping a tab on her.
Shot in the dark
Says a source, "Recently, the actress called for a quick meeting with her managers and told them that she wants to be signed for big films and plum brand endorsements. She even enquired about a contemporary and wanted to know the line-up of her upcoming films and the number of brand deals she has in her kitty."
It is said that the actress in question began taking a keen interest in the other actress' career post the appreciation she received for a film they did together.
Another source says, "She clearly wants to stay in the limelight and will do everything she can to stay ahead of her peer. Even when Bollywood folk were praising her co-star for receiving an honour for her work, she couldn't stop raving about her ongoing project."
She was earlier keeping a close tab on another actress who has managed to get critical acclaim for most of her performances. Looks like she has a fresh target now.

Mass murder on 'Balika Vadhu' for 15-year time leap

Balika Vadhu to take a 15-year leap after two original writers and director quit; the entire cast save one will apparently be killed off
Amid rumours of 'Balika Vadhu', one of the longest running daily soaps, going off air, TV industry insiders tell us that the show will take a time leap with a romantic storyline set to replace the original plot — trials and tribulations of a child bride. In the process, the entire cast will apparently be killed off.

A source says, "Akhiraj (Sunil Singh), in a fit of rage, starts gunning down the whole village and the central charcaters, including Anandi (Toral Rasputra) and Dadisa (Surekha Sikri) will be shot dead. Jagya (Shakti Anand) will call the cops who will eventually gun down Akhiraj. The show will take a 15-year leap post which they will show Nimboli (Anandi's daughter) growing up."
Avinash Sachdeva

Avinash Sachdeva
When we contacted Purnendu Shekhar, one of the original writers of 'Balika Vadhu', he said he has quit the show. "I parted ways with the channel over creative differences. I had written the script till the time leap, but this is definitely not what I wrote for them. Both Gajra Kottary (co-writer) and I have left the show, and I don't know who the new writers are."
Kottary says, "Yes, it was a difference of opinion with the channel and we don't wish to elaborate on it." Apparently, even director Sidharth Sengupta has left the show.
The source adds, "It was a change in the core concept that made the writers and director quit. Balika Vadhu has followed a certain pattern for seven years, and if that core is changed, then it might as well be a different show."
The makers have now signed Avinash Sachdeva (of Qubool Hai fame) as the new lead and the hunt for a young Nimboli is on. "As far as I know, they are now planning to narrate a mature love story in the show. However, I have only had a character discussion with the team so far," says Avinash.
Channel authorities refused to comment on the story.

Pratyusha Banerjee's death: Shashank Vyas, Ssharad Malhotraa, other TV actors react

TV actors react to Pratyusha Banerjee's death

Shashank Vyas, Vahbiz Dorabjee and Ssharad Malhotraa
Shashank Vyas

Pratyusha was full of life. She was my first Anandi. I have fond memories of her. I had not imagined she would do something as drastic as suicide. I thought it’s an April Fool prank when I got a call from a friend. When I realised the gravity of situation I rushed to Kokilabehen hospital. I couldn't see her face as police didn't allow anyone to go inside. May her soul rest in peace.
Ssharad Malhotraa

I am too shocked since the time I have heard of Pratyusha's suicide. It’s disheartening to know the reality. I feel one must have the right support system and one must share oneself with people. Keeping your emotional self happy is very important.
Mrunal Jain

I was at the cricket tournament and I was shocked on hearing the news. I didn't know her personally but as a fraternity actor, I am too stunned. I feel emotional support is very important given the nature of our profession. One must value the emotional support and unconditional love which you may get from your friends and family
Vahbiz Dorabjee

I am shocked and shaken. All I can say is suicide is not an option. She should have fought it. Life is a gift and everyday you should wake up and value it. I don't think this is only about our industry or being an actress. I just went through it last month with my school friend. She committed suicide and left everyone devastated. It's about the world nowadays and people they don't want to fight it. You have to wake up each day and be a fighter and surround yourself with loved ones and keep yourself diverted. Love yourself before you love anyone else and you cannot take your life. It's selfish. You have killed your family members by doing this.
Sudeep Sahir

I am extremely shocked and saddened by the news. I cannot understand why anyone would take their life for anything, be it personal or professional. But at the same time it's easy to say this from an outsider's perspective. She must have been really depressed to take an action like this. I really wish she had tried to reach her family and friends before taking a step like this. Be it this industry or any other, our families are always with us and one should not forget that. We might end our pain but the misery we leave for the ones who care for us is even worse. RIP Pratyusha.
Gaurav Sharma

I am shocked. Life is very precious for anyone to commit suicide. I wish she had asked for support from her friends and family. Emotional support is a necessity in today's lives. One must value the people who matter. Right emotional support is more important than anything else.
Meghna Malik

It's shocking and greatly saddening, but more than that it makes me angry. It’s pure anger.
Amal Sehrawat

I was totally shocked and for a moment thought somebody is trying to make me April fool. Every person has different reaction to stress and disappointments, it has nothing to do with profession.
Karan Ambardar

I think it is very unfortunate that she had to take this drastic step. What a waste of life. May her soul rest in peace. No matter what the situation might have been, taking your own life isn't the solution. It's a rather selfish and cowardly act. With the kind of fast paced lifestyle that television actors lead, very rarely you find someone whose mind and body are in sync. They are so busy with their life that they forget to be in control of situations or be in touch with their emotions which might lead to a nervous breakdown when things start going south. But in no way this should be used as an excuse to end your life. I repeat it's not the solution but just a quick escape from situations that one's needs to tackle.
Ajay Chaudhary

A friend of mine had called and gave me this news. I thought it is some April fool joke but ironically I was passing from Ambani hospital and decided to check if the information is correct. I was shocked and am shocked with what all happened. I reached the hospital at 7 pm. Her body came around 6-6.30. When you know body has reached and she is dead, how come police turned up at 9.45? Who did what, is immaterial. If a celebrity like Pratyusha is not attended by police for so long, what about the common man? Apparently, her boyfriend only brought her to hospital. Boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh was at least present for half an hour and he could go away from there cooly; had the system been in place and police turned up on time, her boyfriend would have been easily accessible and not missing. I feel it is very important to have the right support system. One must have a mentor in life to whom one can access anytime and take guidance and support each time one is low or directionless.
Prasad Barve

I can't really comment on what she did. It is really sad but I would only say in any field there are challenges and one should be ready to face it. In one of my recent plays, I say a dialogue that a writer named Albert Camus says, ''A person can definitely come over any problem or difficulties provided he looks at those problem and difficulties contemptuously'.” Our play in Marathi Aashadh Bar in a way speaks about all these problems. It's a must watch for every person in the industry.
Laksh Lalwani

Had worked with her once. She was such a down to earth and easy-going person. I believe that every actor is very sensitive. One bad move and it affects them a lot, especially those who are close to them. May God be on her side and on her family's side. I'm still not able to accept the fact.
Sandeep Anand

I am deeply saddened to hear about Pratyusha Banerjee. We work in a very hectic schedule, television is a commitment itself and I feel you have to manage both the sides equally but if you think about your designation you have to be very careful about any step you take forward in your life. Big power brings big responsibilities to you, towards family. I don’t know what prompted her to do this. May her soul rest in peace.
Krishna Gokani

I am shocked, devastated and extremely sad after knowing her sudden suicide news. I think actors lack security. Professionally and personally, I guess it would be a whole new different world for them once they are more secured and not exploited. How many more Pratyushas/ Divya Bhartis/Jiah Khans are we to loose before we wake up.

Television actors, family bid adieu to Pratyusha Banerjee

Pratyusha Banerjee.
The 24-year-old actress, who shot to fame with her role as Anandi in TV show "Balika Vadhu", was found hanging from the ceiling at her flat last evening.
Pratyusha's last rites were performed at Oshiwara crematorium here around 6 pm.
Several television personalities Kamya Punjabi, Smita Bansal, Rohit Verma, Rakhi Sawant, Ejaz Khan, Ratan Rajput, Sara Khan, Pooja Bose, Shilpa Saklani, Apoorva Agnihotri, Jay Bhanusali, Mahi Vij and others attended the funeral.

Reportedly, Pratyusha had been dating producer Rahul Raj Singh. According to reports, she was facing problems in her relationship with Singh.

What is Kaley Cuoco hinting at with this selfie?

Seems Kaley Cuoco and her rumoured beau Karl Cook are set to up their romance rumours budding all around, like their latest adorable selfie shows. 'The Big Bang Theory' actress posted a throwback Thursday shot of her snuggled up to the 26-year-old equestrian on an unspecified beach.

"We absolutely mastered the ways of the selfie stick," the 30-year-old star joked in the caption for the loved-up photos.
The top image in the collage shows the duo looking out onto the ocean while the second, on the bottom, features Karl kissing Kaley's forehead as she smiles into the camera.
Less than a week ago, the two sparked initial dating rumours after the actress shared an image of the two during what appeared to be a hunting trip.

Is Nicki Minaj to blame for Nick Young's confession?

A new report claims that the singer might be behind Nick Young’s cheating confession being leaked
The scandal over Nick Young admitting to cheating on Iggy Azalea just became stranger. A new report claims that Nicki Minaj is responsible for leaking D'Angelo Russell's video of Nick's confession.
Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj
“Somebody from Nicki Minaj's camp, a source, got the video, and they sent it in,” a writer for a website claims. “And they said here, 'put this out, because Iggy wants to talk mess about Nicki Minaj. Put this out and let her know what her fiancé is doing.'”
Nick Young and Iggy Azalea

Nick Young and Iggy Azalea
But why would anyone from Nicki's camp leak the video? In shades of the brutal feud between Nicki's bae, Meek Mill, 28, and Drake, 29, Iggy allegedly “took a couple shots at Nicki…on Bravo TV,” the writer said. Basically, Iggy said that Nicki wasn't “the only person who writes her raps,” just like how Meek accused Drake of using a ghostwriter.
Nicki and Iggy have some major bad blood between them. Nicki famously trashed Iggy at the BET Awards in 2014 over the Fancy singer not writing all her own songs. Nicki even slammed people who “cut corners” to get to the top, throwing some shade at her rival. Iggy said she was “unbothered” by the hate and it seemed Nicki ended the feud.
Should Iggy thank Nicki instead of how she gave props to D'Angelo for filming Nick's confession? She said she doesn't want to “marry a cheater,” and the wedding just might be off. However, the feud between her and Nicki may be back on.
As for the controversy, recently Nick Young, 30, admitted to his friend D'Angelo Russell, 20, that he was cheating on Iggy Azalea, 25.

From Kohli's Dejection to Bravo's Dance, All That Happened after #IndVsWI Match

From Kohli

India vs West Indies was an absolute thriller but India’s loss meant that a million hearts were broken in just 1 ball. While the West Indian players celebrated their win (and deservedly so), their Indian counterparts looked dejected. Virat Kohli’s hung head to MSD’s attempt to cheer his players; the Indian team was seen going through all sorts of emotions.

Pictures always manage to capture human emotions in its raw form and those taken after the match show how the Indian players and the West Indies players felt. As the captain and the vice-captain walked together it seems as if they were still trying to digest the fact that their run in the tournament had ended.

While the mood in the Indian dressing room was somber, the West Indians were excited and joyous. Many said that West Indies did not just win the match; they actually won the hearts of a million people.

From Kohli

Ashish Nehra bowled an exceptional over at the death but even that wasn't enough to keep the Windies at bay.

From Kohli

MSD was all smiles with his dear friend Dwayne Bravo after the match. Dhoni posted this picture on Instagram.

From Kohli
Andre Russell played a blinder to get Windies a well-deserved win. Russell came out to bat after Charles Johnson had been dismissed by Virat Kohli.

From Kohli

Even Virat Kohli's luck and hardwork couldn't take India over the ropes this time as he had only 8 to defend in the final over.

From Kohli

West Indies will now be looking to win their 2nd World T20 title by defeating England in the finals.
