5 unforgettable performances by Hollywood actors, who played twins

For better or for worse, certain twin-centric performances will always stick out and inevitably stay lodged in your head once you see them. And if one were to make a list of all actors who played both on-screen twins, the 5 names below would be written with a permanent marker.
Tom Hardy in “The Legend” (2015)
Tom Hardy

Based on real events that occurred in the East End of London in the '50s and '60s, “Legend” joins a long list of films that have identical twins at the center of the story, but it's one of the few that sets the story in the world of true crime. The praise has been reserved mostly for Tom Hardy’s dual performance as the Kray Twins.
Freddie Highmore in "The Spiderwick Chronicles" (2008)Freddie Highmore
The twin concept sprawled into the fantasy genre with this adaptation of Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi's popular children's book "The Spiderwick Chronicles." Highmore's determined performance —whether freaking-out, being heroic or exchanging verbal sibling attacks with himself or older sister Mallory (Sarah Bolger)— is what keeps "The Spiderwick Chronicles" from being completely forgotten.
Edward Norton in "Leaves of Grass" (2010)
Edward Norton

Good movies about twins are spread wide and thin, and this story of polar opposite twin brothers Bill and Brady Kincaid, written and directed by Tim Blake Nelson, is probably the best recent example. His conversations and speech in the end was flawless. Such kind of fireworks one insanely talented actor can create when inspired by the twin concept.
Adam Sandler in "Jack And Jill" (2011)
Adam Sandler

Finally, there’s this piece of shit. Talking about Norton was all the more necessary, given that this last entry is the most unforgettable dual performance of recent times for the most vile reasons you can think of. This Adam Sandler atrocity is unforgettable, of course, only by those who've had the grave misfortune of wasting precious minutes on it.
Nicholas Cage in "Adaptation" (2002)|

The other essential film whenever the discussion of onscreen twins is brought up, is "Adaptation". For an actor who is precariously close these days to being better recognized as a meme generator than an Oscar-winner, this is one of the best showcases of Cage's acting talent that surfaces when the right material comes along.

Did Karan Singh Grover skip 'Hate Story 3' promotions for Bipasha Basu?

Karan Singh Grover leaves promotions for his film, 'Hate Story 3' at Jaipur mid-way, flies back to Mumbai to be with 'special friend' Bipasha Basu
Within moments of landing in Jaipur from Mumbai on Thursday, Karan Singh Grover made a quick U turn and took the next available flight back to Mumbai. Reason? The actor was missing his ‘special friend’ Bipasha Basu, who was believed to be apparently under the weather.

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover
Karan was in the Pink City along with co-stars Sharman Joshi, Zareen Khan and Daisy Shah and director Vishal Pandya for the promotion of their film, 'Hate Story 3'.
If the grapevine is to be believed, Karan apparently did not inform the rest of the unit that he was taking off. They realised it much later that he was back at the airport waiting to board a flight to Mumbai.
Says a source, “As soon as the unit reached the hotel, they dispersed to their rooms to get ready for a promotional event. But Karan told them he had some work and disappeared. They assumed that he had stepped out for a while, but later they realised that he was on a flight back to Mumbai. They then continued with the promotional activities sans him.”

Adds the source, “Karan appeared to be pre-occupied and relunctant to be part of the promotional activities.
Moreover, when he realised that the hairdresser who had accidentally dropped a hot tong and burnt Bipasha’s face and hands while doing her hair for a shoot recently, was part of the 'Hate Story 3' trip to Jaipur, he saw red. His behaviour made it clear that he was not happy to have her in their midst.”
On November 27, Bipasha had tweeted, “Started my day of shoot with multiple burns on my face and hands by a so called senior hair stylist. She did not even flinch after dropping the tong. Inhuman. Think she came drunk to work. Unbelievable!” Karan remained unavailable for comment.

"These kinds of movies are hard to make. The studios don't want to make them because it doesn't fit the business model anymore. It's complicated material, it's a gamble. They need some guarantee with marquee. So often I jump in and take a part first because I love the project, and I gotta get in to make sure it gets made,` he added.

"I think he interpreted it that I decided I didn't want to work with him, but actually I decided I didn't want to write a record, period, at that point. But yeah, there's no bad blood there, or certainly not on my half," the Rollingstone Magazine quoted the 27-year-old as saying.

Real Mard: Farhan comes in support of actresses

Real Mard: Farhan comes in support of actressesActor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar says he supports actresses, who want to work on a wage system that will bring them on par with their male co-stars.

The "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" actor said he will oblige to the wage system demand, if any actress asks for it while he is casting her.

"I read recently somewhere that there are many female actors, who said they would want to work on a wage system that works even for men and I completely support them. If I want to cast them and they say that to me, then that's what I'll give them. But I can only speak about myself in relation to casting for a film," Farhan told reporters here.

Commenting on the issue of pay-inequality in Bollywood, Farhan said the actresses have a right to say 'no' if they think they are being underpaid.

"It's a personal choice. I can never force you to work in my film for a certain amount of money. You have to say yes.

But if you don't say yes, then you won't work. This is a personal decision and I cannot comment on someone's personal choice to say what they are happy with and what they are not."

The actor was speaking at the launch of a new range of deodorants from Park Avenue, which has partnered with Farhan'sfoundation MARD (Men Against Rape and Discrimination) to spread awareness about gender equality.

When asked about objectification of women in Bollywood films, the 41-year-old actor said it is a personal choice to do such roles or not.

"Every person has the right to think about himself. If you are asked to do a role which might objectify you, don't do it. You do have the choice of saying no. I do believe they have the right and the choice to be able to change it themselves."

Farhan believes the film industry thrives on talent regardless of gender.

"The atmosphere in the film industry has always been based on talent. If they are talented then irrespective of whether they are men or women, they will always do well and will always be appreciated."

Sandhya Mridul has a different definition of change

"Every freedom fighter has been angry, which is why they have gone, fought and created change. So, angry is a damn good word. That is where change comes from," Sandhya said during a visit to the IANS office here with the cast and director of the film.

"Through the film we are trying to show that these women are not going to just lie down and take whatever comes. You are going to make change, not going to attack people. So through that, anger makes a change," she added.

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan announced on Thursday that he will be the co-owner of International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) franchise OUE Singapore Slammers.

Bachchan will make a courtside appearance on December 20 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on the final day of the season. He will also be interacting with fans during the course of the day, according to a release.

Slammers, co-owned by the UD Group and Bachchan, are one of the five teams competing in the second edition of the IPTL.

Singapore will host the final leg of the competition from December 18-20 to determine who will be the champions for 2015.

"My work schedule allows me to only be there for one day, but I'm confident the Singapore Slammers will be playing in the final. I'm also really looking forward to hanging out with members of our clan, the #SlammersNation," Bachchan said in a release.

"I'd like to invite my fans and tennis fans alike to come spend the day with me at the Singapore Indoor Stadium."

Chairman Prateek Gupta said: "For us, the IPTL and Slammers is as much about entertaining the fans as it is about winning that trophy. In Bachchan, we found a kindred spirit who believes in that aim.

"Moreover, his commitment to the sport of tennis means that he will be a crucial driver of our Junior Slammers programme as well. We look forward to creating a winning team with a true Indian icon."

Andy Murray, Stanislas Wawrinka, Nick Kyrgios, Dustin Brown, Carlos Moya, Marcelo Melo, Karolina Pliskova and Belinda Bencic are part of Slammers.

Joining the Slammers at the Singapore Indoor Stadium will be the UAE Royals, Indian Aces, Philippine Mavericks and Japan Warriors -- the newest addition to the season -- bringing 35 of the world's top tennis stars into town for the three-day five-city league climax.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will reportedly be seen in an extended cameo in filmmaker Gauri Shinde's next movie, which also features Alia Bhatt.

"Contrary to rumours, Shah Rukh is not playing the lead. He will only be seen in a cameo," a source from the film's unit told IANS.

The source added that it was a women-centric project with three male leads.

"One of the male leads is from the south filmdom. The makers are closely guarding the names of the lead actors," he said.

The film is jointly produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Dharma Productions.

This will be Shinde's second directorial after the critically and commercially successful 'English Vinglish' (2012).

Rajinikanth can be called Asian superstar: Sajid Khan

Director Sajid Khan, who has unveiled a book on Rajinikanth, says he is "truly" one of the biggest fans of the superstar. He also admires Rajinikanth for popularising regional cinema worldwide.

The "Housefull" director unveiled the book titled "The Warrior Within" here on Thursday.

"I am extremely honoured to unveil a book about Rajinikanth. It's a fantastic book. I have read some parts of it, and as an admirer now I am dying to read the whole book," Khan said at the event.

"I am truly one of his biggest fans...Rajinikanth has made regional cinema popular worldwide. He is as good as Jackie Chan. Rajinikanth can be called as Asian superstar," he added.

"The Warrior Within", which follows the life of the superstar, recounts Rajinikanth's voyage into the world of movies.

According to Khan, comparing two great personalities in Indian Cinema like Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth is like "measuring the level of the oceans... which one is deepest and vast".

"I feel this is very unfair to them. Both are living legends and superstars and have an immense fan following. They have got so much love from people," he said.
