Citing dates problem, Sushant Singh
Rajput walks out of Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Half Girlfriend’ which is an adaptation of Chetan
Bhagat’s popular novel of the same name. It is now learnt that Arjun Kapoor has replaced the ‘Byomkesh Bakshy’ actor.
Sushant has been quoted as saying, “It’s unfortunate. I was excited about
working with Ekta (Kapoor) again but the dates didn’t work out. The team wanted
the same dates as that of Dinu’s (Dinesh Vijan) film, which I’m doing next.
Since I had committed dates for it long ago, I didn’t have an option but to
pull out of Mohit’s project,” to a leading tabloid.
Meanwhile, Arjun Kapoor, who previously acted in screen adaptation of Chetan
Bhagat’s novel, ‘2 States’ has been locked for the film. Director Mohit Suri
had a meeting with Arjun who had a brief discussion about the film.
Meanwhile, Sushant is currently busy shooting for Neeraj Pandey's 'MS Dhoni:
An Untold Story’ and Arjun Kapoor is shooting for Balki’s ‘Ki and Ka’ alongside
Kareena Kapoor.
However, Kriti Sanon is signed to play the female lead in ‘Half Girlfriend’.
"I don't think I can talk about that. I have met Mohit and it's a script
that I really liked. I have also launched the book and I have read it a year
ago but there are other things that need to be figured out," Kriti told
IANS.
"There is nothing locked right now so I feel it's not right for me to talk about it," she added.

Talking about Chetan Bhagat's books, Kriti said that "filmy
factor" is attached to Chetan’s books.
"I
loved the book and I feel that all of Chetan's books have a filmy factor to
them, so when you read them, you can imagine a film being made on it. I have
enjoyed reading all his books and I always look forward to reading his
books," she said.
