Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has said that he refused to play
the role of main antagonist in the 2010 blockbuster ‘Robot’ as his good friend
Rajinikanth told him not to do villain’s role.
Directed by Shankar, ‘Robot’ starred the Tamil superstar and
Big B’s daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead, while Danny
Danzongpa played the baddie.
"Shankar had come to me and he wanted me to play the
villain in 'Robot'. I called Rajini. He said, 'people will not accept you as a
villain, so don't do it'. I said ok," Amitabh Bachchan told PTI in an
interview.
There were reports that Big B was also approached for the
sequel ‘Robot 2 (2.0)’, but the actor dismissed it, saying he was not offered
the role.
The sequel to the 2010 film is underway which stars Akshay
Kumar in the role of the main villain. Rajinikanth reprises his role while Amy
Jackson will also be seen in the film as a robot. She will be essaying a
negative character. The first leg of the shooting is complete.
Meanwhile, speculations were rife that Amitabh Bachchan
would be a part of ‘Dhoom Reloaded’, the fourth instalment of the heist films
franchise. However, the ‘Piku’ actor said that he isn’t aware of this.
The veteran actor will be soon seen in Bejoy Nambiar’s ‘Wazir’
alongside Farhan Akhtar. He is also shooting for Sujoy Ghosh’s production ‘Te3n’
and will begin filming ‘Aankhen 2’ from March’.
‘Aankhen 2’ is a sequel of the 2002 heist thriller ‘Aankhen’
starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumat, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita
Sen. Big B will reprise his role of the hard-working but temperamental man who
has been ouster from his bank job.
