Audience has chosen modern day rom-com over periodic drama. Rohit Shetty’s ‘Dilwale’
beats Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’ at the box-office. The first
day collection shows ‘Dilwale’ was highly preferred than ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
Shahrukh-Kajol combo lured that audience much more than on-screen combination
of real couple Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. ‘Dilwale’ collected Rs 21
crore in the opening day while ‘Bajirao Mastani’ minted in Rs 12.08 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted
the figures:-
#Dilwale Fri ? 21 cr. India biz.
VERY GOOD, in view of the fact that screens/shows got divided + protests/show
cancellations at places.
‘Dilwale’ also had a good start at the international markets
#Dilwale takes international markets by STORM... UK: Fri
[Rank 2, after #StarWars] £ 218,803 [? 2.22 cr].
AWESOME!
#Dilwale - AUSTRALIA: Fri [Rank 6] A$ 143,352 [? 69.33 lacs]... NEW ZEALAND: Fri
[Rank 3] NZ$ 79,292 [?
35.39 lacs]. TERRIFIC!
Taran Adarsh tweeted that screens got divided due to the same day release
but people are liking both the movies.
#Dilwale - #BajiraoMastani clash in the pre-Christmas week has
resulted in division of biz due to division of screens, shows, footfalls...
Silver lining: Both #Dilwale and #BajiraoMastani liked by moviegoers. Multiple holidays
ahead + no major Hindi film till 8 Jan advantageous
Hope,
‘Bajirao Mastani’ picks up in the coming days.
