Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who has begun shooting
for Omung Kumar’s upcoming biopic ‘Sarabjit’, was spotted in an absolutely
de-glamorised avatar as she joined the sets of the movie on the outskirts of
Mumbai.
The former Miss World was seen dressed in a brown salwar
suit and chappals without a hint of make-up. She sported the look of an aged
woman with grey hair and also wore spectacles.
The biopic is based on late Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer
in a border village of Punjab who inadvertently ventured into Pakistan. He was
convicted of terrorism and espionage by a Pakistani court and imprisoned in
Lahore Jail, where he was attacked and killed by inmates in April 2013 following
the execution of Parliament-attack convict Afzal Guru. Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir
Kaur had fought tooth and nail for the release of her brother from Pakistan.
The 41-year-old actress will be essaying the role of Sarabjit’s
elder sister Dalbir Kaur. It was earlier revealed that Aishwarya will go
de-glam for the role.
Popular make-up artist Subhash Shinde who has been a part of
films like ‘Mary Kom’ and ‘Grand Masti’ is working on Aishwarya’s look in the
film. According to him, it is a challenging film and he has spent a lot of time
in doing extensive research.
‘Highway’ actor Randeep Hooda will play the titular
character of Sarabjit in the film. It is also said that Aishwarya’s
father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan will play the role of a lawyer.
The shooting of the film will be also done in various cities
of Punjab like Amritsar, Malerkotla and Patiala in the month of January and
finally the last leg of the schedule will be shot in Delhi in the month of
February.
As of now, ‘Sarabjit’ is slated to release on May 20, 2016.
