Salman
Khan’s acquittal in 2002 hit-and-run case came as a big relief for the actor,
his family and friends. Soon after the court’s verdict, fans lands on the street
to rejoice and close pals and family members of the actor started to make a
round of his Galaxy apartment.
Fans chanted 'hip hip hurray' and sang Jumme Ki Raat,
from the actor's film ‘Kick’. "We are relieved. This is good news
for Salman's family, friends and well-wishers," Mr Siddique told NDTV
after the Salman Khan was acquitted.
Hours after the verdict, Salman Khan tweeted# I accept the
decision of the judiciary with humility. I thank my family, friends & fans
for their support & prayers. Father Salim Khan talks about Salman’s
conviction and acquittal, "Salman went to jail for 18 days and my biggest
fear was what if kal ko usse sazaa ho jaye? In the last years of my life I
wouldn't want to see my son in prison. As a father I wouldn't be able to eat
without wondering what he's getting. Yeh kya sazaa nahin thi? It was no picnic
for us?" he grouses.
Screen legend Dilip Kumar and his wife Saira Banu drove to
Salman’s residence after the verdict. Other guests included actresses
Jacqueline Fernandez and Daisy Shah. Waheeda Rehman, who is a close friend of
Salman's stepmother Helen was also spotted. Salman’s ex-girlfriend Sangeeta Bijlani,
actor Puneet Issar, director Nikhil Advani, filmmaker
David Dhawan came with wife Karuna and son Rohit. TIPS' Ramesh Taurani was also
photographed. Several members of the Khan family were also clicked outside
Galaxy Apartments. Among them were Salman's father Salim Khan and sister
Alvira, returning from court.
Salman's brother Sohail Khan, sister and brother-in-law Arpita
and Aayush Sharma, and Alvira's husband Atul Agnihotri also drove to meet Salman.
