Aamir Khan removed as brand ambassador of Incredible India

Following Aamir Khan’s recent commentary on intolerance, he has been removed as the brand ambassador of Incredible India. Aamir Khan’s comment on ‘Intolerance’ invited lots of criticism and the perfectionist was highly criticized.

The news of his removal as the brand ambassador of ‘Incredible India’ got confirmed when Amit Malviya, BJP's IT and digital communication in-charge tweeted the following:

Aamir Khan removed as brand ambassador of Incredible #India.

Many fraternities from different walks of life highly slammed Aamir for his comment on intolerance. "As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can't deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents," he said while speaking here at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards.

"When I chat with Kiran at home, she says 'Should we move out of India?' That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. Her fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from the alarm. Why you feel this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me," 50-year-old Khan said.

Different political parties also criticized Aamir Khan following his comment and his effigies were burnt in various parts of the country. Following the hullabaloo, the perfectionist was also provided security.

On the work front, Aamir Khan is shooting for ‘Dangal’.
