TV actress Rinku Kamarkar goes bald for her show

Television actress Rinku Kamarkar who stars in Zee TV’s popular soap ‘Yeh Vaada Raha’, has shaved off her head for her character in the drama. The actress plays the role of Taai, a character with grey shades, in the show.

It is said that it was the actress’ own idea to go bald as she didn’t like wearing wigs. “I was fed up of wearing a wig as the pins that held it together would prick and hurt my scalp. So I told my unit that it would be better if I went blad,” Rinku was quoted as saying in a report.

She further said that the makers of the drama series were shocked to hear this, but she told them that it would enhance the character.

Rinku is best known for her roles in TV shows like ‘Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha’ and ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii’. She, however, said that she was apprehensive and nervous before chopping off her tresses, but never went back on her decision.

"Honestly if you ask me, I'm nervous but at the same time excited about the whole thing because I had only shaved my head as a child and post that, I've done it now," Rinku said in a statement.

She added that it is the “madness” in her as an actress that made her take such a step. "There is a madness in me as an actor and for the character that I am playing. That madness is not only present in Rinku or Taai from ‘Yeh Vaada Raha’ but I have seen it in the show's writer-producer Mahesh Pandey as well. I would like to thank my hairdresser for giving me different looks till date but now she will not have much to do after this."

The current track of the show, Taai is opposing her son’s marriage with the girl whose father, she believes, is responsible for her husband’s death. She shaves off her head to protest the marriage.
