Megastar Amitabh Bachchan who was shooting in Kolkata for an
upcoming film ‘Te3n’, left the schedule mid-way after getting a call from
producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Big B, along with Farhan Akhtar star in soon-to-release film
‘WAZIR’ which has been produced by Vidhu Chopra. It so happened that the
producer who wanted the lead stars to sing a duet for the film, wasn’t finding
a suitable song.
Vidhu Chopra said, "I went through 200 songs but
couldn't find the one that explained the relationship between the two
characters like Rochak Kohli's ‘Attrangi Yaari’ does. I had given up on finding
the song but then I came across this one."
The producer was so elated upon finding the right song that
he could not help calling the ‘Piku’ actor immediately to shoot this song.
Amitabh Bachchan who was in the West Bengal capital along
with Nawazuddin Siddiqui shooting for Ribhu Dasgupta’s film, obliged and rushed
to the sets of ‘Wazir’ to sing and shoot the song.
"This producer (pointing at Vidhu Vinod Chopra) keeps
doing something or the other, I am currently shooting in Kolkata, Vidhu called
me at night and said, 'this is the song, you have to sing it, and shoot for it
as well.' He doesn't care that someone else's film is being shot. So here I am
because I can't say no to Vidhu," Amitabh Bachchan was quoted by NDTV.
The ‘Shehenshah’ of Bollywood also shared a picture of the
song’s shooting on his Twitter handle. “Recording new song for WAZIR, meeting
the well wishers on Sunday, and the Best Actor Award at BIG Fm!” he wrote along
with the image.
The song ‘Atrangi Yaari’ has been pened by Gurpreet Saini
and Deepak Ramola and will feature in the end credits of the film.
Amitabh
Bachchan plays the role of a wheel-chair bound chess-master named Pandit
Omkarnath Dhar in the film, while Farhan will be seen as a tough Anti Terrorist
Squad (ATS) officer Daanish Ali.
The
film also features Aditi Rai Hyadri, Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham and Prakash
Raj in important roles.
Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, ‘Wazir’ is set to release on
January 8, 2016.
