73rd Golden Globe Awards: Best and worst at the red carpet

It was gowns all the way on the Golden Globes red carpet this year. Who floored and who bored?

Trust Adams to bring on the right amount of glitz and elegance on the red carpet. Her tangerine figure-hugging gown with a defining waistline and slight beading went surprisingly well with her strawberry blonde hair. She stood out in that unconventional colour and make. Full points! (pic on cover)

The model looked like she was going for the gold, literally. She chose a custom made, full-beaded Versace gown with a delicate slip and messy hair. Yet another stunning look from Rosie. There’s something about Jenna’s dress that reminds us of a dark and starry night. A definite boost from her previous red-carpet appearances; we like this rather well rounded look. The actress knows what works for her and channels it well.JLo usually goes for risqué, bare-all looks for red carpet events. This time round, though, she went for a more old-world look. She sported a yellow canary dress with a snaky diamond necklet and despite very little skin, oozed sex appeal. She was a visual delight in this flowing red Versace gown. The long crimson gown with a sheer overlay and a floral textured neckline was breathtaking, to say the least. We also like bold lip colour reminiscent of old school Hollywood glamour. The gown also perfectly accentuates the actress’s svelte figure. You know it’s a sad day when Hudson earns a spot on the worst dressed list. This nude-sequined dress by Michael Kors was a major downer. With a body like hers, one can rock a sack, but in this particular ensemble, she turned heads for all the wrong reasons.Perhaps some Queen from the years gone by inspired this look because if not that, then this is nothing less than an eyesore. Fonda almost always steps out in classy looks, but not this time. We wonder who could possibly pull this off.In a lace Marc Jacobs gown with floral work, Gyllenhall might have had old school glamour in mind, but the result was surprisingly bad. The combination of that large accent on her shoulder along with pink lips and short hair is what bad fashion is all about. This tiered burgundy dress did little for her. While we do like the colour and make-up, it’s less than flattering on Zendaya’s already petite frame; she almost seems to be drowning in all that fabric.
