Dilip Singh Rana who is now more famous as The Great Khali has become a worldwide sensation after his stint with the WWE. In an interview with DBPOST Khali made several revelations about WWE and his life.
He also talked about how racism is still a big part of WWE and has
given some base to rumours about the same which have been doing the
round for the last couple of years. Born in Punjab, Khali even has an
old connection to Varanasi. From 1995-1999, Khali was promoted all over
the country by the then President of World Strong Man Federation, Baba
Modhak.
In a tete-a-tete with Dainik Bhaskar, Baba Modhak revealed several unknown facts about The Great Khali.
- One of the weirdest things he told was that once when he took
Khali to his house, his wife was astounded by how large Khali was. She
measured him up from head to toe with her eyes and then went inside
quietly. Khali consumed the entire ration at his place before leaving!
- When Khali had got injured during the “Khali Returns’ show, Baba
Ramdev had questioned his fighting skills and had even stated that the
fight was not real. To this Khali had replied that only old people would
take up yoga and if it could earn Olympic medals then anyone could get
medals for their country.
- Khali had even defeated quite a few big wrestlers soon after his
debut. One such wrestler was The Undertaker. He defeated The Undertaker
in 2006 and became the World Heavyweight Champion. Khali stated that
while he was in India, WWE decided to completely kill his character due
to politics in the office.
- Khali wants to promote wrestling in India and he has even opened a
wrestling school in Punjab called Continental Championship
Entertainment. Six wrestlers were also picked up by WWE as developmental
talents. “I want 200 wrestlers to be famous on the world stage,” he
said.
