After the announcement of the winners’ list for the 63rd National
Awards, Sanjay Leela Bhansali hosted a party for his B-town friends, as
the team of Bajirao Mastani received seven awards, including
the Best Director award. While there were many Bollywood divas and
handsome hunks who attended the party, Deepika Padukone gave it a miss.
“She was back in India for a day, the day the National Awards were
announced, before returning to shoot for her Hollywood film. She
expressed her inability to be present at the party due to a prior
commitment”, said an invitee.
However, rumours suggest that Deepika was upset as she could not bag the national award for her performance in Bajirao Mastani or Piku. The award for ‘Best Actress’, this year, went to Kangana Ranaut for her performance in Tanu Weds Manu Returns. (Catfight Much!)
According to reports, a source close to her revealed, “She was
really hurt by the National Awards snub. She had won all the popular
awards for her performance in 'Piku' and 'Bajirao Mastani'. She expected
the National Award too. When it didn’t happen, she lost her appetite to
celebrate with her 'Bajirao Mastani' team”.
Thus, despite Bhansali’s former leading ladies including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor present at the event, Deepika decided to ditch the episode. Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rekha, Jacqueline Fernandez, Suniel Shetty were the other guests who attended the bash.
Deepika and Kangana’s coldwar is not new and has been in news for quite a while now.
Last year, on winning the popular award for best actress, Deepika had dedicated the same to Kangana for her exemplar performance in 'Queen'.
However, a heated fight broke out in the open after the action as
Kangana accused her of being fake. Kangana went out in public to say,
“Yes, I heard about that (Deepika dedicating the award), but I hope
someday, she would tell me in person what she feels about my work. I
would appreciate that a lot more”. Though, Deepika had rung up Kangana
later and cleared the air.
Kangana had also taken a dig at Dippy for 'My Choice' women empowerment video that she featured in. The former referred to it as 'sexist'.
Not just the award, Deepika has also been replaced in a clothing brand endorsement by Kangana.
Also, there are rumours milling up Kangana is working with Homi Adajania for his next project.
Deepika has been a part of Homi’s ‘Cocktail’ and ‘Finding Fanny’.
