Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh
Khan and Salman Khan whose upcoming films ‘Raees’ and ‘Sultan’ respectively, were
announced to be released on the same day - Eid 2016 will not be colliding at
the box office after all.
The ‘Clash of the Khans’ has been
averted with Salman giving up the Eid slot for ‘Raees’ and pushing ahead his ‘Sultan’
to Diwali, 2016. The ‘Dabangg’ star has decided to speak to the makers of ‘Sultan’
to release the film on Diwali, according to a Mid-day report.
"Shah Rukh and Salman have
become good friends again and they believe that there is no competition between
them. They respect each others’ work and have worked out a solution to avoid a
clash. Shah Rukh has retained Eid 2016 for 'Raees' while Salman will convince
the makers of 'Sultan' to shift the release to Diwali 2016," the tabloid
quoted its source as saying.
Both the actors have a huge
fan-following and they did not want the audience to be divided and hence Salman’s
‘Sultan’ has shifted its release date, a source working on the film has
confirmed, as per the report.
The festival of Eid has proved
lucky who has been releasing his films on this day for sometime, including the
recent ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, ‘Kick’ (2014), ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012), ‘Bodygaurd’
(2011), ‘Dabangg’ (2010) and ‘Wanted’ (2009).
Salman and Shah Rukh have earlier
clashed at the box office on Diwali 2006 when their films ‘Jaan-e-Mann’ and
‘Don’ released. While ‘Don’ was a hit, things didn’t work in favour of Salman.
However, there has been no official
confirmation from ‘Sultan’ producer Yash Raj Films as yet.
