Actress Karisma Kapoor and estranged husband Sunjay Kapur
who had filed a divorce petition by mutual consent in 2014, have both decided
to withdraw the petition for separate reasons.
Reportedly the couple have not been able to reach a
consensus on the set terms of a certain welfare Trust that Sunjay is setting up
for their children — Samaira and Kiaan, aged
10 and five respectively.
The court set the matter for decision on Friday, November 27
after their conversation with Sunjay over video conferencing, as he is
currently in the US. The court had directed both parties to file replies to
each other’s applications.
The couple have been arguing over the terms of the Trust. According
to Karisma’s lawyer Kranti Sathe, Sunjay was not complying with the terms and
is refusing to handover control of the Trust as well as the flat in Mumbai to
the children’s mother.
Sunjay’s counsel Aman Hingoran on the other hand said that Sunjay doesn’t want to handover the control of
the Trust to Karisma. He alleged that because of this, the actress was not
allowing Sunjay to meet his children, and also added that Karisma and both the
children were well provided for financially by Sunjay.
Karisma’s lawyer, however, slammed reports of her withholding
child visitation rights.
“Whenever he visits, he has been getting regular access to
his children and he has not been denied the right to meet his kids,” Karisma
was also quoted by leading daily.
Karisma and Sunjay
tied the knot on September 29, 2003. Karisma separated from Sunjay after the
couple’s second child, son Kiaan was born in 2010. After a little over a decade
of marriage, they filed for legal separation in 2014 in Bandra Family Court.
Meanwhile, Karisma is rumoured to be romantically involved
with one Sandeep Toshniwal, who is into Pharma business, while Sunjay has been
linked to Delhi-based socialite Priya Chatwal.
