Incredible India: Amitabh Bachchan replaces Aamir Khan

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has replaced Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador of ‘Incredible India’ on different terms and condition. While Aamir was only a part of the whole campaign, Big B would be wholly responsible of the campaign. The perfectionist only endorsed the ‘Atiti Devo Bhavo’ agenda of the ‘Atulya Bharat’ campaign while Amitabh Bachchan will be responsible for campaigning the entire campaign of ‘Incredible India’.
Big B’s name was suggested by Prime Minister’s office while Aamir Khan was hired through an ad agency, McCann Erickson, whose contract with the government had expired. "It is the prerogative of the government to decide whether they need a brand ambassador for any campaign, and if so, who that ambassador should be. I respect the decision of the government to discontinue with my services."
Amitabh Bachchan said that he would be happy to be part of the campaign. "I think you need to clarify first whether he (Aamir) is being removed because of something that he may have said or it's the end of his contract. ... I don't think that people are removed just because they did not agree or said something that is controversial," Mr Bachchan said on television channels last night, according to news agency Press Trust of India.
Big B said that he has not received any formal letter yet but if the Government approached he would be more than happy to do something for the country. Mr Bachchan was quoted as saying, "Nobody has asked me but if they do, yes, I would be more than willing to. I do a lot of this for a state and country and I will be happy if ever there is offer to do something."
"Amitabh Bachchan will be the first choice of the ministry for the job," a Tourism Ministry source was quoted as saying. Actors Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra are also in the fray, the source added.
The source described the veteran actor as a "non-controversial" figure and noted that Gujarat has seen an "upsurge" in tourism after the state hired Big B for its promotion.
