Celebs who dumped their partners after stardom

There are many celebrities whose spouses or partners are not as famous as themselves and keep away from the limelight. But there are also some stars who have dumped their not-so-famous partners when name and fame came knocking at their doors.

Let us check out five such celebs who ditched their girlfriends/boyfriends in the wake of stardom.

1. Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone was dating Nihar Pandya who she met in an acting school. They were allegedly in a live-in relationship. Deepika bagged ‘Om Shanti Om’ and her life changed for better, but Nihar found a brief role in Salman Khan starrer ‘Marigold’. In May this year, there were reports that director Prashant Chadha has roped in Nihar for a film based on Deepika and his love story. When Deepika dumped him for Ranbir Kapoor, Nihar was heartbroken and even cried foul in the media.

2. Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka started her career from modelling. The actress who has now ventured internationally dated small time actor Aseem Merchant during her modelling days. After winning the Miss World title in 2000 and when offers poured in from Bollywood, she moved ahead leaving him behind. Priyanka reportedly stayed at his house in Mumbai when competing for the Miss India pageant.

3. Ranbir Kapoor

Ranbir Kapoor has been a casanova since his adolescence. Before his debut in Bollywood, the Kapoor scion dated Avantika Malik who is now happily married to actor Imran Khan. Ranbir had a huge crush on Avantika who used to work in the then popular television series ‘Just Mohabbat’. It is said that Ranbir used to visit the sets of the serial every day to meet her.  They dated for a decent five years and as Ranbir took a dive into films, they brought an end to the relationship on an amicable note.

5. Freida Pinto

Model and travel show presenter Freida Pinto bagged a role in Oscar winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ and shot to fame post its tremendous success. She dumped her fiancé Rohan Antao post her success and got romantically linked with her debut film’s co-star Dev Patel. Some reports even claimed that Freid and Rohan had even got married in a secret ceremony in Goa in December 2007. Rohan, not wanting to be left hidden in the shadows of her success spoke to media persons and even sent out their engagement pictures. Rohan was devastated that Freida’s infatuation with Dev Patel wrecked their relationship.

4. Anushka Sharma

Anushka Sharma who is currently dating cricketer Virat Kohli was in a relationship with ramp model Zoheb Yusuf during her modelling days in Bangalore. During their struggling days, both of them reportedly came to Mumbai together in search of greener pastures. But luck didn’t favour Zoheb and he returned to Bangalore. In the meantime, Anushka got a big break opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan, and as is the fate of many long-distance relationships, her and Zoheb’s relationship too came to an end.
