The CBI investigating actress Jiah Khan’s death on Wednesday
filed a supplementary charge sheet against Sooraj Pancholi, which revealed that
the actor had hidden facts and fabricated information during questioning.
According to a CBI statement, the deceased actress narrated her
intimate relationship, physical and mental torture at the hands of the actor in
a three-page note which was seized by police in June, 2013. The forensic
statement-analysis of the note has opined that the said note allegedly
represents her mental status genuinely and the circumstances and reasons behind
her suicide.
The analysis “established that Sooraj was concealing
relevant information about actual reason behind the incident and the statement
given by him is incomplete and fabricated," CBI sources claimed in the
charge sheet filed before a special court in Mumbai.
Sooraj and Jiah through Facebook in September 2012, and
their friendship blossomed into an “intimate relationship” over a period of
time, the charge sheet mentioned.
Revealing the details of the charge sheet, Mumbai Mirror
quoted a source as saying that Jiah was four weeks
pregnant when she informed this to Sooraj. The couple then approached a physician who prescribed some medicines
for medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) but that didn't help. Eventually, a
gynaecologist prescribed a stronger and more effective combination of drugs for
the purpose.
However, after taking the medicines, Jiah started haemorrhaging
and was in immense pain. Sooraj consulted the gynaecologist who said the
bleeding indicated that the foetus had probably aborted but had not been
expelled from the body. But instead of taking her to hospital, Sooraj got the foetus
extricated and disposed of it in the toilet. He feared that if Jiah was taken to the hospital, their
relationship will be revealed, which will not be in favour of his career, the
charge sheet alleged.
Sooraj thereafter, started avoiding her and she drowned into
depression following which she commited sucide. Jiah was found hanging at her
residence by her mother Rabia on June 3, 2013.
The charge sheet also revealed that she returned to her home
that morning from the house of Sooraj where she had been staying for the
previous two days.
The CBI said, although the three-page note was not signed or
addressed to anyone in particular, evidence on hand incriminates Sooraj only.
The board of forensic medicines opined death is suicidal in
nature which corroborates post mortem done by Mumbai doctors. The doctors are
among the new witnesses examined whose statements were not in the previous
charge sheet filed in the case.
The charge sheet was file after the sessions court here
sought to know the status of CBI probe in the case after the Bombay High Court
transferred it to them last year. Special Women's Court Judge A S Shende in
November had noted that the probe agency (as per its earlier submission) had
finished the investigations but "the charge sheet was still not
filed."
In October 2013, Rabiya had moved the Bombay High Court
alleging that Jiah, her daughter, had been murdered and sought a CBI probe
which was granted.
The CBI has charged Sooraj with abetting the suicide of
26-year-old Nafeesa Rizvi, alias Jiah Khan.
