On Wednesday, CBI filed charge sheet at Mumbai
Sessions court in Bollywood actress Jiah Khan’s suicide case, who was found
hanging on a ceiling fan on June 3, 2013 at her Juhu apartment.
The case was handed over to CBI after Jiah’s mother Rabia Khan produced
substantial information, claiming that her daughter was murdered and has not
committed suicide.
When the case was handed over to CBI, they investigated the case in
their own way and recovered ample amount of evidences which suggests that her
boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi and his father veteran actor Aditya Pancholi was
involved in abetting the suicide.
A top official of the CBI on condition of anonymity informed that
Sooraj, debuted in Bollywood with ‘Hero’ last month and his father former
actor Aditya Pancholi, could be charged with abetting the alleged suicide of
Jiah Khan, who was found hanging at her Juhu home on June 3, 2013.
“There are enough reasons for the two to be charged,” said the CBI
official.
On the basis of the letter found, Sooraj was booked for abetting Jiah’s
suicide and he was arrested on June 10. On July 1, 2013, the Bombay High
Court granted the 22-year-old bail.
However, special public prosecutor Dinesh Tiwari expressed his surprise at
CBI's move. He was quoted by news agency PTI as saying, "I was never
informed about the charge sheet and the conclusion that the agency had arrived
at."
Mr Tiwari, who had also appeared for Jiah's mother Rabia, said that he would oppose the charge sheet if CBI concluded the cause of death as a 'suicide'.
