Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar
will be seen together in upcoming movie ‘Wazir’. Both the actors, who are
wonderful singers as well, have crooned a promotional track for the action
thriller.
The song titled 'Atrangi Yaari' is the crux of the film and
is based on unusual friendships, which is basically the theme of ‘Wazir’. It
has been pened by Gurpreet Saini and Deepak Ramola and composed by Rochak Kohli.
The song will feature in the end credits of the film.
In his baritone voice, the ‘Piku’ actor has belted out popular
songs like ‘Neela Aasman’, and ‘Rang Barse’ from ‘Silsila, ‘Mere Angane Mein’
from ‘Laawaris’, ‘Main Yahaan Tu Wahan’ from ‘Baghbaan’ among others. Farhan
too has sung in his film ‘Rock On!!’ and the title track of ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’
along with Priyanka Chopra.
So, it was quite likey that the makers of ‘Wazir’, which
stars both the actors, would come up with idea to make them sing together for
the film.
“It was producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra's idea to make them sing
together. Farhan and Amitabh have discussed the song and are excited about the
duet,” Midday quoted a source close to the film as saying.
Big B and Farhan will be sharing screen space for the first
time in ‘Wazir’. The is known to share a bond off screen too. They are also
known to catch up with each other via social media at odd hours. Farhan also
addresses Amitabh Bachchan by his characters name 'Pandit Ji' off screen.
Amitabh
Bachchan plays the role of a wheel-chair bound chess-master named Pandit
Omkarnath Dhar in the film, while Farhan will be seen as a tough Anti Terrorist
Squad (ATS) officer Daanish Ali.
The
film also features Aditi Rai Hyadri, Neil Nitin Mukesh, John Abraham and Prakash
Raj in important roles.
Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, ‘Wazir’ is set to release on January
8, 2016.
