A special court on Friday slammed the Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) for leaking to the media parts of its charge sheet in the
model-actress Jiah Khan suicide case, saying this was "very serious"
and asked the probe agency to be careful in future.
Actor Sooraj Pancholi who is accused of abetting the suicide
of the 26-year-old actress appeared before a Special Women's court which posted
the hearing to January 18. Special Judge A S Shende adjourned the case
observing, "How come the contents of the charge sheet is known to media
even before I got to know about it."
"CBI is the only source from where it got leaked. This
is a very serious thing. Be careful about it in future," she warned.
A report published in a leading daily yesterday (December
10) had revealed some gory details from the charge sheet filed by the CBI in
the case. The charge sheet mentioned how Sooraj extricated a four-month
pregnant Jiah’s foetus and flushed it in the toilet.
Sooraj’s mother yesteryear actress Zarina Wahab defended her
son saying, “The entire charge sheet is not out yet. How dare anyone write
anything about Sooraj without knowing the contents! We will take action against
people giving incorrect information.”
Regarding their future course of action, she said, “We will
only be able to talk about our plan of action once the complete charge sheet is
out.” She added that the CBI has ruled out the possibility of murder.
The ‘Chitchor’ actress also revealed that she knows who is
behind the false rumours. In a veiled reference to Jiah’s mother Rabiya Khan,
she said, “Who is giving all these details? Has the CBI or the court said this?
Once ‘she’ got to know that Sooraj is free from getting charged with murder,
she started telling stories. How much can she try to defame my son?”
Meanwhile, Rabiya who was also in the court, told reporters
that she was not satisfied with the charge sheet as there were bigger truths
that have to be revealed. She also confirmed that Jiah and Sooraj had a strained
relationship and that the deceased actress had been consulting a psychiatrist
since 2008.
Jiah was found dead in her Juhu home on June 3, 2013. Police
recovered a three-page letter in which she narrated her intimate relationship,
physical and mental torture at the hands of the actor.
