Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has been admitted to Mumbai Hinduja hospital
for suspected kidney stones.
“Vidya is currently in expert hands at Hinduja Hospital and is well on her
way to recovery,” Vidya’s spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday.
She was admitted to the hospital by her husband Siddharth Roy Kapur on
Tuesday after she suffered from shooting pain in her back while boarding a
connecting flight from Abu Dhabi taxiing for take-off, the statement said.
The couple had planned to ring in the New Year and Vidya’s birthday which
falls on 1st January at an undisclosed location abroad.
A source said, “The couple boarded a
connecting flight from Abu Dhabi to their (undisclosed) holiday destination and
while the aircraft was preparing to take off, she experienced a sharp pain in
her back. The pain was so severe that paramedics had to be called on board and
later, they were deplaned. She was taken to a clinic at the airport for further
tests. Her temperature had also shot up.”
The pain was stern and paramedics were called aboard following which Vidya
and Siddharth were deplaned. She was taken to a clinic at the airport for
examination, it said.
After taking some medicines, the
couple took a flight back to Mumbai and Vidya was immediately rushed to a
suburban hospital. “A few tests later, doctors suspected kidney stone. She is
now being treated and will be discharged soon,” added the source.
Confirming the news, Vidya’s
spokesperson said, “She is currently in expert hands at the hospital and
is well on her way to recovery.”
